ATTEMPTED TO GET INTO A SEARCHMONT HOUSE

(Searchmont, Ont.) Sault Ste Marie OPP were called to a home in Searchmont after the owner found that thieves tried to get into the house.

The owner a home, located in the 1000 area of Hwy 532 in Searchmont, left the house yesterday morning and returned in the afternoon. They discovered that the door knob on one door was damaged by some type of tool and that two screens were ripped off other entrances. It appears that the thieves did not gain entry to the house.

POSSESSION OF CHILD PORNAGRAPHY CHARGES FOR LOCAL MALE

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) The East Algoma OPP Crime Unit and the Child Pornography Section of the OPP have concluded their investigation regarding possession of child pornography.

Charged with Possession of Child Pornography is Brian David DREW (37) of Westview Crescent in Elliot Lake. DREW remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing scheduled for October 10, 2007.

SINGLE VEHICLE COLLISION ON STANROCK ROAD

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) On October 4th, 2007 at approximate 12:20 p.m. the East Algoma OPP received a call regarding a single vehicle collision on Stanrock Road north of Elliot Lake off highway 108.

Charged with Over 80 and Impaired Driving is Paavo VIUHKO (58) of Elliot Lake. VIUHKO is scheduled to appear in court in Elliot Lake on December 4, 2007.

ASSAULT ON CAUSLEY STREET

(Blind River, Ont.) October 05, 2007 police received a complaint of a possible assault. The complainant reported that the suspect had allegedly assaulted her on Causley Street in Blind River.

Charged with Assault is Randall Clifford WONG. WONG is scheduled to appear in court in Blind River on December 6th, 2007.

VANDALISM TO KINGDOM HALL

(Desbarats, Ontario) On Saturday September 29th, 2007 the East Algoma Thessalon Detachment received a phone call regarding vandalism being done to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses Building located in Desbarats, Ontario.

The vandalism occurred sometime between Thursday September 27th and Saturday September 29th, 2007. Suspects vandalized the building by spray painting profanities and various religious symbols all over the brick and siding.
