(Wawa, Ontario)Superior East OPP in Wawa were notified that 2 people camping on Montreal River were expected home in Sault Ste Marie yesterday and haven’t returned.
Due to the remote area of the camp, the OPP helicopter assisted Superior East OPP with the search.
After a short search, 43 year old Glen Parsons and 44 year old Mike Corcoran, both of Sault Ste. Marie were located at their camp with boat motor problems.
The OPP helicopter brought them out to retrieve parts for the motor and returned to make the necessary repairs and waited until they were safely on their way.


Municipal Election Signs Stolen

Candidates running for Municipal office in Echo Bay report to police that their signs have been stolen from Hwy#638 at Hwy# 17 on Sunday night and from Bar River Road at Hwy#17 on Monday. The candidates pay for the signs out of their own pocket. The Elections act makes it an offence to remove or tamper a election sign. The police are asking the public to support all candidates running for officer by respecting their signs.

Stolen Truck Recovered - Attempted to Evade Police

Blind River, Ont.

At around 10:30 p.m. the Communications Centre in North Bay alerted officers from East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police to be on the look out for a stolen truck from the Espanola area.

An Officer spotted the truck and was attempting to positively identify the vehicle when it sped off into an industrial road area east of the Town of Blind River.
While the officer awaited back-up units the vehicle again drove onto hwy 17 and proceeded westbound. The cruisers activated their emergency lights and the suspect vehicle attempted to force the Police off the road on at least two occasions.

The suspect vehicle, in an attempt to evade Police again, lost control and almost collided with an eastbound tractor-trailer. The suspect vehicle collide with a utility pole and knocked support wires down across the highway and two occupants of the truck fled into the bush area.
During this time Highway 17 was closed for approximately 1 hour.

With assistance from other officers the pair of Young persons were captured approximately 1 ½ hours after the incident began. They sustained only minor injuries.

The 15-year-old is charged with: Fail to remain at the scene of Accident and Possession of Stolen Property

The 16-year-old is charged with: Possession of Stolen Property, Fail to remain at the scene of Accident, Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle, Flight from Police Officer

Both subjects were held in custody and will be in bail court today in Sault Ste.
