Lake Superior State University President Peter Mitchell gives working groups their brainstorming mandate during a "visioning" session held Oct. 11 for LSSU's Center for Freshwater Research and Education (CFRE).
More than 65 invited representatives from throughout the area helped project planners come up with ways the CFRE could be used for everything from tourism to community outreach. Another session dedicated to science teaching and research opportunities follows Oct. 12.
