SAULT STE. MARIE, MICH. - Lake Superior State University is teaming up with the Sault Ste. Marie Economic Development Corporation and America’s SBDC Michigan to host the inaugural, Get Real! Entrepreneurship Competition.

It takes place 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. April 13 in R.W. Considine Hall on Lake State's main campus. The goal is to provide students an opportunity to compete and receive an impactful and immersive experience within a business and product development environment. 

The Get Real! Entrepreneurship Competition invites competitors from community and tribal colleges across Michigan and Ontario to develop and submit a product concept or innovative business idea.

Students will engage with faculty from LSSU's College of Innovation and Solutions to enhance a product or business concept. Following the work sessions, competitors will present plans to a panel, with five finalists advancing to compete for top honours. 

First place in the business idea category receives $500 underwritten by the Sault Ste. Marie Economic Development Corporation. Second and third places receive $300 and $200, respectively. The best product idea gets $500 plus five hours of LSSU Product Development Center consulting. 

Students who enter the competition individually or in teams must first bring an idea or concept to the appropriate faculty advisor at their community or tribal college. Registration information and a sign-up form are online
