Lakers return home for two

The Lakers dropped the weekend opener before picking up a tie on Saturday

Western Collegiate Hockey Association action continued over the weekend for the Lake Superior State Lakers hockey team with a pair of home games at Bemidji State at Taffy Abel Arena.

On Friday night, Bemidji got a pair of goals in the third period to break open what was a close game through 40 minutes.

Goals in the final period by Aaron Miller and Charlie Combs lifted Bemidji State to a 4-1 win.

Alex Adams and Nick Cardelli also scored for the Beavers while Ethan Somoza assisted on a pair of goals.

Goaltender Zach Driscoll made 33 saves.

Max Humitz had the lone goal for Lake Superior State.

Goaltender Mareks Mitens stopped 28 shots for the Lakers.

On Saturday, Lake State overcame a 2-0 deficit in the third period to pick up a 2-2 tie.

Bemidji State got goals from Tyler Vold and Adam Brady to take the lead, only to see Hampus Eriksson and Lukas Kaelble score just over five minutes apart to tie the game for the Lakers.

The Lakers return to action on Dec. 6 on the road in the opening game of a two-game weekend series against Minnesota State.
