Fit Bodies Fit Minds, a leading fitness studio in Sault Ste. Marie has launched a range of sport-specific training programs to help athletes of all levels improve their performance and reduce the risk of injury.

The programs are tailored to meet each athlete's unique needs, said owner Kyla Faganely. Combining strength training, nutrition counselling, cognitive tools, Pilates training, mobility and yoga to enhance strength, agility, balance, flexibility, coordination, focus and body awareness.

The studio offers a range of fitness classes, private and semi-private training, programs, and workshops designed specifically for team or individual sport needs.

"We offer a lot of pilates, yoga, fitness training and strength training, but we also have another location where our squat cages are, and more of our bigger lifting exercises are, as well as a pool for pool training," said Faganely.

Workshops focus on resilience, nutrition, strength, program design, finding an edge, mind-body awareness, rest, and recovery.

Teams and coaches can book Fit Bodies Fit Minds for workshops anytime, including before playoffs, a final game, before the start of the season, and even workshops for coaches and parents.

There are two upcoming courses specifically for athletes.

Fit Bodies Fit Minds also offers small group training programs for teams, and We Come to You sessions, where an instructor will come to your facility/field and run a specialized program for your team. Ongoing athletic-based classes include sport-specific training, Athletic Reformer, and Athletic Yoga to keep athletes in top condition year-round.

Studies show athletes who cross-train properly experience greater overall fitness, enhanced motivation, and fewer injuries.

"My whole model is whatever they're doing on the field, on the court, on the ice, I'm going to strengthen the opposing muscles the best I can, to get the body in balance — which then creates more power, speed and strength from our body,” Faganely said.

Fit Bodies Fit Minds' cross-training programs aim to increase strength, endurance, power, speed, muscle balance, longevity, and injury prevention and reduction. The expert staff tailors each program to the athlete's needs, ensuring key takeaways for everyone.

Faganely’s team offers athletic assessments to provide a starting point for athletes and coaches to set goals and build a program plan and periodization for better and longer-lasting results.

Nutrition is also an essential component of athletic performance and recovery, and the studio offers an athletic nutrition manual created by certified nutritional practitioner and sports nutrition therapist Jaime Brideau.

Faganely announced her plans to open a new athletic training facility within the next two years. The 2,500-square-foot facility will solely focus on athlete training, offering personalized coaching and nutrition and mental health services.

"We just bought the building next door. And that is our goal within the next two years, to have this facility ready where it would only be for athletes," said the owner. "It will be a little less daunting when someone's new to yoga or something, they walk in, and there's an NHL player just sitting in the class."

Fit Bodies for Minds aims to continue its focus on personalized coaching, nutritional guidance, and mental health support as it expands its athletic training facilities.

"We believe that taking care of your body and mind go hand in hand," said Faganely. "We want to create a safe and supportive environment where athletes can train, learn and grow."

Let Fit Bodies Fit Minds help you and your team find their edge and lead a more powerful life.
