Northwood Funeral Home has been proudly serving Sault Ste. Marie and the surrounding area for more than 34 years. They pride themselves on being locally owned and operated.

The idea of Northwood Funeral Home came to fruition in 1988. After a year of planning, construction began in April of 1989. Northwood Funeral Home was completed and opened its doors for the first time at a community open house in November of 1989.

From day one, Northwood Funeral Home has strived for excellence. From their facilities to the service they provide, their goal is to exceed all expectations. As a locally owned and operated funeral home, each staff member ensures that the families they serve are the number one priority – they have the ability to focus on families, not sales.

The team empowers families through clear and concise information, delivered with compassion and never with high-pressure sales tactics.

The family at Northwood Funeral Home includes three full-time licensed funeral directors Joan Currie, Terra Seaton and Maddie Wallace. Behind the scenes, but just as dedicated, are three-full time support staff. Christine McMaster is the Office Manager and Serena de Guzman and Terry Biocchi are the Funeral Director Assistants.

The funeral home has numerous part-time staff that are on hand to help when the need arises. The closely knit staff at Northwood have been able to cultivate an atmosphere where they can treat every family served as their own.

Whether or not you are pre-arranging (pre-planning) or the services are at-need at the time of passing, each Funeral Director is ready to provide efficient, caring guidance and service. When a death occurs, the funeral professionals at Northwood understand how difficult making arrangements can be. No upfront deposits or funds are ever requested – flexible options are offered to alleviate any financial concerns.

Northwood is known as one of the most affordable funeral providers in the Algoma District, where the costs never compromise the integrity or quality of the service they are providing.

Services are offered in an airy, modern building that is accessible for those with limited mobility. The reception centre is equipped with a full kitchen that allows for catering or potlucks. From planning of the service to the reception, families can come together at one site to celebrate their loved ones.

When not serving families in the chapel or the reception centre, Northwood's funeral professionals are seen being active and engaged in the community. The staff enjoy taking part in volunteer opportunities like helping the Algoma Autism Foundation for its Trunk or Treat and Sensitive Santa events. Other community engagements include cooking at St. Vincent Place and taking part in their Coldest Night of the Year fundraiser.
