Meet Ward 2 candidate Luke Dufour

He promises to focus on jobs, efficient taxes, and quality services
Luke Dufour Ward 2 candidate

SooToday asked each of the candidates to submit a bio to introduce themselves to voters. Meet Ward 2 candidate Luke Dufour:

An Algoma University graduate, Luke Dufour was born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, choosing to return here to start a family and to manage JL Builders, a local small business.  Luke, his partner Elise and son Calvin are all Ward 2 residents.

The 2018 campaign is Luke Dufour’s 2nd time running for Ward 2, having been just over 100 votes shy of Sandra Hollingsworth in 2016.  During these campaigns, Dufour has dedicated hundreds of hours to hearing the concerns of Ward 2 residents at their doors and has translated this into a strong record of advocacy.

A few examples of issues that Dufour has successfully advocated for include appointing a City Councillor to the Downtown Association Board, Vacancy Rebate Tax Reform and 4 Year Capital Forecasting across all City Departments.

Dufour’s 2018 campaign will continue to focus on addressing key issues facing the community: jobs, efficient taxes, and quality services.  Now, more than ever, Sault Ste Marie needs Councillors at the table who want to work hard to expand our population, attract good jobs and exercise wisdom with our resources.

Luke Dufour has been actively involved in the community.  He currently sits on the Board of Directors for the SSM Public Library, and helps to lead a group of volunteers which cooks and serves meals at St Vincent's Place through the support of local businesses.
