Canadian filmmakers Jared and Michelle Brock will be in Sault Ste. Marie to screen his newest documentary, entitled Over 18.
The film deals with online pornography and is aimed at combatting pornography addiction among children and teens.
Some of the information film makers discovered included:
- 88 per cent of porn scenes contain physical aggression (spanking, gagging, slapping)
- 49 per cent of porn scenes contain verbal aggression (ie. name-calling)
- 9 out of 10 boys and 6 out of 10 girls are exposed to online pornography before the age of 18
- 83 per cent of boys and 57 per cent of girls have been exposed to group sex online
- On average, a boy will first see porn at 12 years old
- 71 per cent of teens hide their online behaviour from their parents.
Jared and Michelle are currently on a 70-city nationwide tour, including a Parliamentary screening in Ottawa.
The film will be screened at 7 p.m. on the evening of Thursday, Dec. 1 at Destiny Christian Centre at 633 Wallace Terrace.
"Many parents are either oblivious to what their kids are exposed to online or have no idea what they can do about it," says local pastor Robert Quinlan. "This would be an excellent opportunity to educate and equip parents in our area."
