Mélissa Ouimet, who hails from the Eastern Ontario town of Saint-Albert, has been carving out a place for herself in the world of music for several years now. It all began in 2003 when she won the People’s Choice award at Ontario Pop.

Since her career took off, Mélissa has enjoyed one success after another, including a performance at the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games; bursaries from the Jeux de la Francophonie and the Fondation franco-ontarienne; a grant from the Ontario Arts Council, a tour of Asia with stops in Hong Kong, Seoul and Kuala Lumpur.

She also offered well-noticed opening act performances for Martin Deschamps, Dany Bédar, Boom Desjardins, Lost Fingers, Claude Dubois, Robert Charlebois, Compagnie Créole, Éric Lapointe and Véronic DiCaire.

Mélissa Ouimet has been working on her solo project for more than two years. Her first single, Personne ne pourra m’arrêter, was released last October, and has been drawing attention and airplay on Québec radio.

The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario offers a French Catholic Educational Program that is widely recognized for its excellence.
