The Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board has announced the unanimous approval of awarding the tender to the general contractor for the new St. Mary's College.
The 41.5 million dollar tender has been awarded to Guelph's Tambro Construction Ltd. Construction on the city's newest secondary school is set to begin immediately, and is anticipated to be completed by August 2015.
Not included in the general tender is the furnishing of the auditorium and enhancements of the athletic facilities. The Board plans to fundraise for those additional items.
“This is the latest step on our Board’s journey to have all our secondary students in a unified
school environment. We are excited as a Catholic learning community,” said HSCDSB Chair, Lindsay Liske.
“This is great news for our Board. We look forward to the opening of this school for the
beginning of the 2015-16 school year,” said HSCDSB Director of Education, John Stadnyk.
