NARCOTICS POSSESSION
Yesterday morning shortly before noon hour, officers from the Joint Forces Drug Unit observed a male to have in his possession narcotics. As a result of this Denis Joseph Morin, age 42, of 153 Alexandra was arrested. Upon being searched the officers found a small knife in the fanny pack worn by the accused. Mr. Morin had 2 grams of cannabis resin on him, which has a street value of approximately $50. The accused has been charged with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance and one count of carrying a concealed weapon. He will appear in bail court this morning.
TURNS SELF IN TO POLICE
A 39-year old male will appear in bail court today after he turned himself into City Police yesterday afternoon in regards to a domestic matter from August 4th. It is alleged that the male attended at the east end residence of his estranged girlfriend to drop off their child and then wanted a stereo system in the house.
The female did not agree with him taking it. They got into a verbal argument, the male pushed the female, and as he was leaving her residence he kicked the screen door hard enough to cause it to dislodge from the wooden frame. The male will appear in bail court today after being charged with one count of assault and one count of mischief under $5,000.
ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL
At approximately 2:15 am this morning patrol officers came across a vehicle stopped on Second Line West at Korah Road and found the driver to be asleep behind the wheel. The car was in drive, the driver’s foot was on the brake pedal, and there was a bottle of beer in the front seat with the driver. A check by the officers revealed that the driver was a prohibited driver at the time of this offence.
Police arrested 43-year old Valerie St. Cyr of 201-721 Second Line West and charged her with one count of impaired driving and one count of operate motor vehicle while disqualified-court order. She will also appear in bail court this morning.
ATTEMPTED BREAK-IN FOILED
Just before 1 am this morning a resident of a home in the 600 block of Douglas Street was awakened by the sound of someone trying to break into his home. The homeowner yelled out to the persons he saw and then called the police who were able to respond quickly to the area. After the homeowner called out 2 of the 3 persons fled and hid in the bush area across of the street, but the third person was undeterred and moved to the rear of the home and forced open a rabbit hutch and a small garage. This adult accused was arrested by City Police still in the garage with a couple of tools that were suitable for jimmying locks.
Police arrested 2 16-year old youths and charged each with one count of attempt break and enter. They will both appear in court on September 21st. The 40-year old male who was with them has been charged with one count of attempt break and enter, one count of break and enter, and on count of possession of housebreaking tools. This male will appear in bail court today. The name of the adult male cannot be released as it could result in the identity of one or both of the youths.
FOUND-IDENTIFY AND CLAIM
Yesterday afternoon an east end citizen attended at the Police Station and turned in a lawn ornament they found. If you are missing a solar powered house number sign in the shape of a rock, and can properly identify it, you can claim it. If you think this is your property call the station at 949-6300 at ext 109, between 8 am and 4 pm and refer to report number SM04020137.
REGISTER YOUR BIKE WITH POLICE
The City Police Summer Students are available to register your bikes. If you call the station at 949-6300 and ask for their extension at 363, they will make arrangements to register your bike. They work Monday to Friday between 8 am and 4 pm, but if you set up an appointment this will ensure they are available as they often have other job they are doing throughout the day. They will be available until the end of August to do this. Registering your bike(s) is a good idea since we also recover a number of stolen bikes on a regular basis. If your bike is registered with the City Police and we recover it, then we will know who to return it to.
