BREAKINS REPORTED
2 Break and enters were reported yesterday. The first was reported to a residence on Grand River Crescent after the female resident left the house for about 2 hours. While she was out someone entered the garage and took a piece of electronic equipment. Nothing else was reported missing.
The second occurrence was also reported in the morning. A resident in the 100 block of Woodward Avenue reported a break and enter after returning home and finding that someone had entered her residence and took a small amount of jewelry, photos and picture frames.
DRUG & WEAPONS CHARGES
25 year-old Kristan Anthony Yukich and 23 year-old Nathan Cory Pierce will appear in court on March 15th after they were arrested and charged yesterday with drug and weapon offences.
Officers with the Joint Forces Drug Unit found the 2 accused men to be in possession of cannabis marihuana, psylocibin and ecstasy pills which lead to the 3 charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking. A charge of possession of a controlled substance was also laid against the 2 men when a small amount of codeine pills were found. A charge of possession of a prohibited weapon was laid when the drug enforcement officers located a knife during their search.
BREAKS CURFEW
A young offender will appear in bail court this morning after having been arrested this morning at 1:15. Patrol officers attended at a west end store where the young person requested a ride to an east end residence. Officers learned that this person was on a probation order and an undertaking to abide by a curfew of 9 pm to 7 am.
The young person was transported as far as the city police station after being arrested and charged with a breach of probation and a breach of undertaking charge.
2 19-YEAR-OLDS COLLIDE
Justin Herrington, age 19 of Thessalon was the lone driver charged after a motor vehicle collision at Boundary Road near Trunk Road. Mr. Herrington attempted to make a left turn from a parking lot onto Boundary Road when a northbound car on Boundary Road struck the Herrington vehicle before it could complete the turn. No injuries were reported and damage was light to the Herrington truck and severe to the car being driven by 19 year-old Richard Kreger.
WILLOW & TILLEY CRASH
19 year-old Amanda Bruni was charged with failing to stop at a stop sign after a 2 vehicle collision at the intersection of Willow and Tilley Avenue. Miss Bruni was west bound on Tilley Ave. when she failed to stop at the Willow Ave intersection. A southbound vehicle on Willow Ave being driven by 27 year-old Robert Portelance struck the Bruni vehicle. Damage to the Bruni vehicle was moderate while the Portelance vehicle sustained severe damage
