Male Resists Arrest
18-year old Adam Arthurs of 492 Second Avenue will appear in bail court this morning after being arrested last evening in the downtown area. When officers arrested the accused for a non-criminal related matter officers found a small amount of marihuana on the accused. At the time of the offence the accused attempted to break free from the arresting officers. The accused has been charged with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance and one count of resist arrest.
Male Charged with Assault
Officers arrested 23-year old Gilbert Stone of 1-337 Albert St E yesterday morning after they completed their investigation into an assault complaint. It is alleged that a male victim was assault by the accused on the 1st of December. The victim was stuck over the head with a beer bottle. The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries and sought medical treatment at the time of the incident. The accused has been charged with one count of assault with a weapon and will appear in court on February 21st.
Male Threatens Bodily Harm
A 41-year old male was arrested yesterday just before the noon hour. It is alleged that the male threatened to harm an immediate family member with a pipe. The accused was arrested in a downtown residence without incident. The accused has been charged with one count of threatening to cause death or bodily harm and will appear in court on February 21st.
Male Arrested for Theft of Camcorder
24-year old Erin Nicholson of 5 Forest Crescent, Heyden was arrested yesterday afternoon. It is alleged that on the 31st of December the accused entered the Muntz Stereo store on Trunk Road and stole a Panasonic digital camcorder valued at $1300. The accused will appear in court on the 21st of February.
Break and Enter
City Police received 2 break and enter reports yesterday. A resident in the 100 block of Tancred Street reported their home had been broken into yesterday afternoon. Also a home in the 200 block of Brown Street was entered sometime between January 11th and 13th. In both incidents it is unclear at this time if anything was taken.
Police Remind Drivers to Use Caution
In the last 24 hour period 5 motor vehicle collisions were reported to the City Police. There were no injuries in any of the collisions, damage was minimal and no charges were laid. Again the Sault Ste Marie Police Service would like to remind motorist to drive with caution today. The drifting, blowing snow can reduce the visibility in areas.
Stabbing Investigation
The Sault Ste Marie Police Services is currently investigating a stabbing that occurred last evening in the 100 block of Queen Street East. Police and ambulance personnel responded to the call last evening at 11:30 p.m.
A 41-year old male victim remains in the Sault Area Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Information was received that three males entered a residence and an altercation took place resulting in the victim being stabbed. One of the males is described as caucasian, stocky build, approximately 5’9” and wearing a ball cap.The only descriptors of the other males are that they were caucasian.The victim sustained injuries in the chest and shoulder area. No arrests have been made in the incident.
