ALLEGED CEMETERY STALKER ARRESTED
City Police had received a complaint about a suspicious vehicle and person in the Greenwood Cemetery. A male described as 30-45 years old, brush cut, dark in colour, stalky build wearing a blue muscle shirt was observed acting suspiciously by cemetery employees.

Employees observed a white Chev Cavalier, possibly a station wagon, with a female and two small children inside. Upon arriving at the cemetery, police were able to locate the vehicle and the male.

After investigating the occurrence, police allege that Robert Enio Mahonen, age 30 of 733 Metzger Street, was watching the cars of cemetery visitors and at an opportune moment, would steal purses or anything else of value from the vehicles.

Mahonen was arrested on 14 charges of theft under $5000.00 and 14 charges of breach of a probation order to keep the peace and be of good behavior. The dates involved stem from the June 28 to the July 24. He will be appearing in bail court today at 1:30 p.m.


YOUNGSTER ARRESTED
A young person was arrested in the rear of a Morin Street address while trying to run from police. The youth, known to the officer, was informed of outstanding warrants in relation to a theft that occurred on the July 17. He attempted to flee the area, but not successfully.


HE SHOULD HAVE GONE TO HIS ROOM
A 14-year-old has been charged with assault after being told to go to his room. The young person was escorted home by a parent and upon arriving at the residence a verbal argument ensued.

A person in the home attempted to intervene and ended up being gouged under the eye by the young person. An August court date has been set.


MAN CHARGED WITH CRIMINAL HARASSMENT
Michael Vincent Muto, age 22 of 704 Wallace Terrace, has been charged with 6 count s of criminal harassment. It is alleged that Mr. Muto had followed 6 young people from March 16 until May 31 throughout various areas of Sault Ste. Marie. He is to appear in court in August.


RIFLING THROUGH CARS
Police received a call about two young persons going through the cars in the rear parking lot of the Pee Wee Arena. They were observed entering a vehicle and removing two duffle bags, 2 packs of cigarettes and a pair of sunglasses. They were arrested a short distance from the arena and both will appear in court the 2 Sept. 2003.


UPSET MAN ARRESTED
Amir Abbas Golbaz, age 25 of no fixed address, will appear in bail court today at 1:30 p.m. Mr. Golbaz refused to leave Ontario Works after being directed to do so by employees.

Police were called but Mr. Golbaz still refused to leave. He began to shout and yell profanities and was escorted out of the building. Once outside, he was given a third opportunity to leave the area or be arrested.

The profanities and yelling continued and he was subsequently arrested. Mr. Amir Abbas Golbaz has been charged with trespass to property, assaulting police, and causing a disturbance.


CHARGED WITH ASSAULT
Matthew Barnes, age 21 of 289 Kingsford Road has been charged with assault and threatening death. It is alleged that on the July 13, Mr. Barnes got into an altercation with the victim, Celina Burton, after an argument about a loud stereo.

The assault occurred in the residence and spilled out to the front of the house where Mr. Barnes threatened he was going to kill her. Barnes is still at large and is being sought by police.


SAFE STOLEN
City police were called at the Dollar Store on Northern Avenue in regards to a break and enter that occurred sometime overnight. Unknown person(s) entered the store through the rear door and stole a safe containing over $800.00 in cash and coin.
