BOTH DRIVER HOSPITALIZED
The City Police Traffic Service Unit is investigating a motor vehicle collision that took place on Second Line E. between Old Garden River Rd. and Black Rd.
The accident, which occurred at approx. 1:15 p.m.,
resulted in both drivers being taken to hospital. One victim, a 63-year-old female, remains in stable condition at the General Hospital I.C.U. Anyone having witnessed this accident is asked to contact the Traffic Service Unit.
ASSAULT AT GALAXY
At approximately 6:00 p.m., city police were called to the Galaxy Cinema in regards to a man being held, by Mall Security for Assault. Upon arrival, officers arrested George Albert Dunkley, age 45, of 9 Hearst Avenue and charged him with assault.
It is alleged that Mr. Dunkley assaulted a male by punching him numerous times to the head. It is not known if the victim and the accused knew one another. Mr. Dunkley will be attending court on April 26 at 9:00 a.m.
WEAPON CHARGE
At 1:15 yesterday afternoon city police arrested a 20-year-old male, in the area of Korah Collegiate, on a warrant. When the accused person was searched the officers found a knife on his person.
As a result of this, he was charged with Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public. Charged is Steven Vincent D’Orazio, D.O.B.: age 20, of 46 Chippewa Street. He will be appearing in Bail Court this morning at 10:00 a.m.
IMPAIRED CHARGE
On Thursday March 18th at approximately 6:30 a.m., a single motor vehicle accident on Great Northern Road resulted in a 17-year-old male being charged. In the accident the accused was driving a van north on Great Northern Road when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a snow bank. The van then overturned and landed on it’s left side.
Police arrived at the scene and determined that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol. The accused was arrested for Impaired Driving and Drive Over 80 mgs.
The accused suffered minor injuries in the accident. He was treated and released for these from the General Hospital. He will be appearing in court on April 20th at 9:30 a.m.
SHOPLIFTING AT THE MALL
At approx 4:15 p.m. yesterday afternoon, police were called to attend at the Sports Check Store in the Cambrian Mall in regards to a theft. Upon arrival officers were informed that two females were seen stealing a coat off one of the racks.
The suspects then fled through the mall. They are described as white females both in their 20s. One suspect had brown hair and the other was blonde.
