ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT
A 40-year-old male will be appearing in bail court his morning after being arrested by city police around 11:30 last night. If is alleged that he got into an argument with his girlfriend and threw her against a wall. He has been charged with one count of assault.
A STRANGER IN HIS KITCHEN
Shortly before 3:00 this morning a resident came out of his washroom in the 500 block of Douglas Street and saw a stranger in the kitchen.
The uninvited male took a package of cigarettes and a lighter, and pushed the homeowner before fleeing the residence.
The homeowner called police right away and was able to provide a description of the intruder.
Officers located him in the area and he was taken into custody. A query also revealed that the male was on a release order indicating he could only be in Sault Ste Marie in the company of his surety. His surety person was not with him.
39-year old Robert Daynard of 1701 P Line, Hilton Beach, has been charged with one count of breach of a release order, one count of assault and one count of break and enter to commit an offence. He will be appearing in bail court this morning.
US VISITOR ARRESTED
A 44-year-old male from Taylorville, Illinois, was arrested yesterday morning in the Zeller’s Store in the Station Mall after he attempted to leave the store with a concealed CD.
He paid for some other items at the checkout, but failed to reveal the CD that he had removed from its case and placed on his person.
Store Security apprehended the accused and turned him over to the City Police. Harlan Alberts Jr was released from police custody on a recognizance with a cash deposit and a court date of November 8th.
UNIQUE PROJECTOR STOLEN
Yesterday morning the Ontario Forest Research at 1235 Queen Street East reported the loss of an $8,000 projector.
The projector is a N-Focus brand; model Lite Pro 350, serial number SRW04801777. This projector is unique in that it can be hooked up to a computer and used for power point presentations; but can also be hooked up to a TV or Video Game unit and allow those images to be projected to a big screen version.
MORE HOSPITAL THEFTS
Yesterday morning the Sault Area Hospital reported another theft of computer monitors. This time 3-17 inch plasma LCD flat screen monitors were taken. The brand name on them is Extreme, model JM677 and they are black and silver in color. Police ask you to call them or Crime Stoppers if you have any information.
