SHOPLIFTING AT ZELLERS
Yesterday afternoon 18-year-old Andrew Richards of 79 Pilgrim Street was apprehended by security officers at the Zeller’s Store in the Station Mall.

It is alleged that the accused put on a new pair of running shoes, placed his old shoes in the shoebox and left the store wearing the new shoes.
He was apprehended and turned over to City Police.

Mr. Richards was on a probation order at the time of this theft. He has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000 and one count of breach of probation. He will appear in court on October 4th.

A 17 year old young person who also tried the same trick yesterday at the same store and was turned over to City Police The young person will appear in court on October 5th after being charged with one count of theft under $5,000.


SHOPLIFTING AT RJ’S
Yesterday afternoon Daniel Miller, age 27, of 205-222 Albert Street West was apprehended by staff members of RJ’s Market on Wellington Street West after a staff member observed the accused putting assorted cold meats and cheese, worth $286 in a duffle bag.

Staff prevented Miller from leaving the store and city police were called. Mr. Miller was on probation at the time of the offence with conditions to keep the peace and be good. Mr. Miller has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000 and one count of breach of probation. He has a court date of October 4th.


CHARGED WITH ASSAULT
Yesterday morning 32-year-old Roberto Felice of 52 Railroad Avenue went to the police station and turned himself in. Mr. Felice was wanted from an incident on the 20th of August where it was alleged that the accused assaulted another male.

The incident occurred in a local drinking establishment and the victim had been punched a number of times in the facial area. The victim received a black eye. Mr. Felice has been charged with one count of assault and will appear in court on October 18th.


DRUNKS WALKING ON INTERNATIONAL BRIDGE
Around 3:30 this morning patrol officers were called to the International Bridge after receiving a complaint of 4 intoxicated males walking on the bridge.

Officers checked the persons and one of the males was found to be wanted by the City Police. The 3 other males were delivered to Canada Customs for them to deal with.

Thomas Warren Boissoneau age 24 of Garden River was arrested and charged with one count of fail to attend court for an earlier incident from December of 2003, and has a court date of October 18th.


CAR & BIKE COLLIDE
Yesterday afternoon around 3:30 pm city police were called to the intersection of Wellington Street East and Pine Street for an accident with injuries involving a car and a bicycle.

A bicycle operated by Alan McLean, age 41 of Country Club Place was travelling eastbound on Wellington Street East and as he approached the intersection at Pine Street, a car travelling westbound on Wellington Street turned left in front of him. Mr. McLean was taken to the hospital by ambulance for treatment of his injuries. It is believed that the helmet Mr. McLean was wearing prevented serious head injuries.

The driver of the car, 86-year-old Gilda Luzzi, of Pim Street has been charged with turn not in safety under the Highway Traffic Act.


TRUCKER HIT BY THROWN OBJECT
Shortly before 9 pm last night an incident occurred on Second Line West near Farwell Terrace that could have had more serious consequences. A transport driver was operating his vehicle on Second Line West with this window rolled down, when he was struck in the face with an object that was thrown at his vehicle.

The truck driver immediately stopped his vehicle as he was surprised with what happened. This resulted in the load of wood he had in his trailer shifting and slamming into the front of the trailer causing extensive damage.

The driver received a scrape on his cheek area very close to his eye. The driver did not see who threw the object but 5 or 6 kids were observed running from the area of the creek as soon as he slammed on his brakes.
