ROLLOVER ACCIDENT
On Thursday, the 25th of Sept. 2003 at approximately 5:55 p.m., City police officers responded to a rollover motor vehicle accident on Maki Rd. Ronald Albert Dowding Jr., age 16 of 394 Goulais Ave. was driving a 1989 red Pontiac 6000LE when his vehicle entered the shoulder of the roadway, proceeded into the ditch and rolled over near a residence at 1511 Maki Rd. Dowding and three other passengers in the vehicle were not injured in the accident.
Dowding has been charged with Careless Driving, under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario, a fine of $325.00. The owner of the vehicle, Shawn M Dunlop of 536A Goulais Ave. has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario with Permit Unlicensed Driver to Drive Motor Vehicle, a fine of $255.00 and also Permit Motor Vehicle to Operate without Insurance, no set fine.
Dunlop has a late October court date for this charge. Speed and driver inexperience were the major factors in the accident.
BREAK AND ENTER
This morning at approximately 2:30 a.m., City Police responded to a break and enter to the Beaver Gas Bar at Korah Rd. Upon arrival police officers observed damage to the building where entry was gained. An undetermined quantity of cigarettes were stolen.

A REMINDER
City Police are reminding the public of the Provincial Fall Seatbelt Campaign that will run from Saturday September 27, 2003 to Saturday October 5th, 2003.
The aim of this campaign is to ensure compliance with provincial seatbelt laws and child/infant restraints. During the 2003 Spring Seatbelt Campaign, Sault Ste. Marie Police checked 1822 vehicles and laid 173 seatbelt charges
