YOUNGSTER ARRESTED FOR THREATENING
Yesterday at approximately 9:00 p.m., police officers were called to a residence in the Northern Avenue, North Street area and arrested a 14-yr-old.

A complaint was made to officers that this young person had threatened to cause bodily harm to another young person and had threatened to kill yet another. At the time of the incident, the youth was on a probation order to stay away form the victims.

Police officers arrested and charged the youth with two counts of threatening and two counts of breach of a probation order. He will attend bail court today.


ARGUMENT ESCALATES TO ASSAULT
On the 23rd of August, in the early evening, city police received an assault complaint. It appears that an argument between two parties led to the accused, Bernard Cadreau age 37 of 748 Wellington Street East, punching the victim several times.

Cadreau, intoxicated at the time, left the area prior to police arrival. No injuries were sustained by the victim.

Yesterday, police officers received a complaint from the Sault Area Hospitals of a male hanging around the front foyer. He was not seeking medical attention.

Police went to the hospital and discovered the person about whom the complain was lodged wsa, in fact, Cadreau who they arrested and charged with assault. He will appear in court the 6th of Oct. 2003.


ACCIDENT SENDS ONE TO HOSPITAL
Police officers investigated a motor vehicle collision yesterday that sent an injured person to the Sault Area Hospital.

Denise Coleffi, age 54 of 41 Hargraves Avenue was driving a 1990 Ford Sedan eastbound on Bay Street at Spring Street when she proceeded through a red light and struck a southbound vehicle, a 1989 Chrysler Sedan being driven by Debbie Ann St. Jules, age 44 of 21 Lindstedt Street. There was major damage.

St. Jules was transported to the Hospital by ambulance and was treated for minor injuries. Coleffi has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario with failing to stop for a red light.


POLICE ENFORCING SPEED LIMIT
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is advising the public that they have started a speeding enforcement program. Yesterday, 80 motorists were stopped for speeding. Motorists are reminded that they should obey the posted speed limit.
