BAIL COURT HEARING TODAY
Yesterday morning , shortly after 1:00 am the accused, a recently turned 18-year-old male was located at a residence on Capp Avenue. He was found to have violated the Liquor Licence Act and failed to identify himself properly to police officers.

The accused was initially arrested for failing to identify himself under the Liquor Licence Act. Officers learned that the accused was on a young persons undertaking with various release conditions. He was handcuffed and placed in the rear of the police cruiser, where he forced his way out of the car.

Patrol officers once again took the accused into custody as he exited the cruiser onto the lawn area. He has been charged with Obstructing Justice, Breaching his Young Persons under Taking and Escape Lawful Custody. He will appear in bail court today.

ASSAULT CHARGES
Also yesterday at approximately 3:00 pm, Aaron Morin, age 28 of 243 Hampton Road was at a residence on Second Line West where he assaulted two males, by pushing and punching them. The victim’s, who were known to the accused, received minor injuries in the assault.

As a result, Morin was taken to the police station at 5:10 pm where he was arrested and charged with two counts of Assault. He will appear in court on January 5th.

BEAR SPRAY ASSAULT
On the 30th of October 2003 at approximately 5:00 pm, the accused, Ryan Point, age 24 of 331 Church Street, Echo Bay had bear spray in his possession. On this evening the accused, while on McNabb Street near Manitou Drive, used this prohibitive weapon to assault two persons, spraying them with it. The victim’s who distantly knew the accused received minor injuries in the incident.

Last night at 5:30 pm the accused came to the city police station at 580 Second Line East and turned himself in. He was arrested on outstanding warrants for Possession of an Unauthorized Weapon, two counts of Assault and Breach of Probation. He will appear in court on January 5th.

SUNDAY BREAK INS
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service yesterday afternoon investigated six break ins to cottages in the 400 block (Red Rock Area) of Gros Cap Road in Prince Township yesterday. Thieves caused damage to each of these residences and removed various items including generator and home electronics equipment.

Police officers also investigated a break in to a garage on Oak Lane Road in Gros Cap. And at 1:50 am this morning officers were called to H.M. Robbins School where thieves broke in and damaged the interior of the school.

The investigation into these incidents is continuing and anyone with information about them is asked to contact the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service at 949-6300 or Crime Stoppers.

SAFETY PATROLLER LAS VEGAS WINNER
The Sault Ste. Marie Safety Patrollers Association held its Las Vegas trip fund raising draw on Friday, November 28, 2003 at 1:00 pm at Rome’s Independent Grocer. The winning ticket selected by Mrs. Kelly Rome belonged to Mr. John Vanbiesbrouck of Sault Ste. Marie. The Safety Patrollers Association would like to thank everyone who help support this draw
