The Sault Ste Marie Police Service investigated 24 motor vehicle collisions over the weekend. One of these accidents resulted in personal injuries. The accident occurred on Sun. 14 December at approximately 1:00 PM on Second line W. near Leigh’s Bay Rd.
At that time Franca LIGUORI, of Carpin Beach Rd. was driving her Nissan east on Second Line W. Her car came into contact with some slush and she lost control of her vehicle. Her car then collided with a parked vehicle. Mrs. Liguori suffered head injuries and was taken to hospital by ambulance. The Sault Ste Marie Police Service’s Traffic section is investigating this accident.
BREAK AND ENTERS
In other news City Police were called to an address to the 100 block of Laird St. to investigate a Break and Enter. Culprits gained entry to the residence by forcing a door. It is not known what was taken from this address. The break in was discovered last night at approx. 8:00 PM.
An attempted break and enter was also reported to a residence in the 100 block of Salisbury Ave. This incident was reported last night at approx. 7:50 PM. Culprits attempted to enter the residence by forcing a rear window.
City Police ask that citizens report any suspicious canvassers or persons walking in their neighbourhood.
On Sunday morning at 3:15 City Police were called to the Fraternal Order of Eagles located at 246 Wellington St. W. in regards to a break and enter. Officers discovered that the rear door glass window had been broken and that the telephone lines had been cut. As a result of their investigation the officers attended a second floor apartment where they located three bottles of liquor believed to have been stolen from the break and enter. Four persons located in the apartment were subsequently arrested and charged as follows:
1. Shauna Goodfellow, D.O.B.: 21 Nov 1984, of 246 Wellington St.W. Apt. # 2. Charged with Break and Enter and Possession of Stolen Property. 2. Gordon John Bussineau, D.O.B.: 14 Feb 1982, of 440 Bush St., Charged with Break and Enter and Possession of Stolen Property. 3. Randy Bussineau, D.O.B.: 30 Oct 1979, of 440 Bush St., Charged with Break and Enter, Possession of Stolen Property and Breach of an Undertaking. All three of the above-accused persons will be appearing in Court on Jan 19th at 9:00 AM.
The fourth accused, Billy Lee Anderson, D.O.B.: 12 Dec 1983, of 12 Beech St., was charged with: Break and Enter, Possession of Stolen Property, two counts of Failing to Appear in Court and Obstruct Police. He will be appearing in Bail Court today.
RIDE PROGRAM On Friday and Saturday nights the Sault Ste Marie Police Service and the O.P.P. conducted joint R.I.D.E programs. Approx. 500 vehicles were stopped. 28 Roadside tests were performed which resulted in one arrest, for Drive Over 80 Mgs and six 12-hour suspensions. Police also laid several charges under the Motorized Snowmobile Act.
