CAUGHT IN RIDE PROGRAM
19-year-old Ryan Longo of 37 Digby Crescent will appear in court on August 9th after being stopped by the RIDE program late Friday night. At approximately 11 pm on July 2nd Mr. Longo’s vehicle was checked on Lyons Avenue near Farwell Terrace.

Mr. Longo was given the roadside screening test and registered a fail. At this point the accused was asked to go to the police station and provide another sample. Mr. Longo refused to provide the additional sample and as a result was charged with fail to provide a breath sample.


SEXUAL ASSAULT
On the 3rd of July City Police received a complaint of sexual assault from a female adult victim. It is alleged her ex-boyfriend sexually assaulted her in the downtown area. A 38-year-old male was arrested on the 4th of July and charged with one count of sexual assault. He will appear in court on August 9th.


CHARGED WITH THEFT
56-year-old Gordon King of no fixed address was arrested on July 3rd and charged with one count of theft under $1,000 and breach of probation. It is alleged the Mr. King attended the Sears store in the Station Mall and stole a $19 dollar watch.

The accused was apprehended by mall security and turned over to the City Police. The accused was on a probation order at the time of the offence with a condition not to attend the Station Mall. He will appear in court on August 9th.


ACCIDENT SENDS ONE TO HOSPITAL
City Police were called to the intersection of Douglas Street and Turner Avenue at 2 pm on the July 3rd for an accident, which sent one person to the hospital.

A van, travelling westbound on Douglas Street, driven by 39-year-old Nadine Roehrig of 47 Maki Road, attempted to turn left onto Turner Avenue and struck a pick-up truck. The eastbound truck was being driven by 25-year-old Jeremy Diotte of 11 Arbor Street.

A passenger in the Diotte vehicle, 24-year-old Claude Torma, was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Both vehicles received moderate damage. Nadine Roehrig was charged with left turn-fail to avoid reasonable opportunity to avoid collision.


ACCIDENT WITH INJURIES
Yesterday at 6:45 pm, city police were called to Trunk Road near Nicholas Avenue for an accident with injuries. A van driven by Lola Mitchell, age 42, of 44 Eastern Avenue was travelling westbound on Trunk Road and was slowing down to turn into an address in the 100 block of Trunk Road, when her vehicle was struck from behind.

Edward Lee, age 82, of Burleigh Falls was driving the car that ran into the Mitchell van. Mrs. Mitchell was taken by ambulance to the hospital with minor injuries. Mr. Lee was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with follow too close. Damage to the vehicles is described as moderate to severe.


VEHICLES ENTERED
City Police are reminding citizens not to leave any valuables in your car, and to lock your cars. Over the weekend 10 reports were taken from various location across the city where vehicles were entered overnight. Items taken range from loose change to CD’s to credit cards and stereos. If you make it difficult for someone to enter your vehicle they may very well leave your vehicle alone.
