ASSAULT CHARGES (LOTS)
A 19-year-old male was charged with assault after it is alleged he grabbed the victim by the arms and threw her to the couch and floor numerous times. The accused was on conditions not to communicate with the victim and was subsequently charged with breaching his undertaking as well.
On the Saturday a 51-year-old male was involved in a domestic matter in the City’s downtown area. It is alleged the male slapped the female victim and grabbed her air. The accused also threatened to kill the victim a number of times. Also on the 31st of May it is alleged the male held a hunting knife to the victim’s chest, which resulted in a scratch. The male was charged with assault, assault with a weapon and threatening death.
Also on Saturday in the east end of the City a 22 year old male broke into the residence of his former girlfriend and assaulted her by grabbing her out of bed and pulling her down a fight of stairs. It is also alleged he threatened to kill her while holding a knife. No injuries were sustained. The accused was charged with break and enter and commit an indictable offence, mischief under $5,000 and assault with a weapon.
A 44-year-old male was charged on June 11th after it is alleged he ripped the license plate off his ex-girlfriend’s truck and threw the plate at her in the city west end on the 8th of June. He was charged with assault and mischief under $5,000 and will appear in court on July 19th.
37 –year-old Victor Duguay of 56 Atwater Street will appear in court on July 19th. It is alleged that on June 12th, Mr. Duguay chased another male and threatened to harm him. Mr. Duguay was charged with threatening to cause death or bodily harm.
Joseph Bryze, 27-years-old, of 2-314 Albert St E was charged with assault on June 11th after he punched another male in the back of the head, at a residence in the downtown area. The male received no injuries, and the accused will appear in court on July 19th.
A 37-year-old male was charged with assault with a weapon after it is alleged he picked up a bar stool and made a motion to strike an employee of a local bar with it. The incident occurred in the City’s west end on June 13th. Marty Pigeon, age 37, of 135 Wilding Avenue will appear in court on July 19th
NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT
City Police charged Brandon Bennett, age 20, of 96 Adrian Drive with impaired driving and consume over the legal limit, as well as driving without a licence, after they responded to a single motor vehicle accident on the 12th of June at approximately 4:25 m in the 400 block of Northern Avenue. Mr. Bennett lost control of a pickup truck he was driving and struck a tree, then reversed the vehicle in a full circle, and drove a short distance until he came to a stop in front of a residence in the 400 block.
Mr. Bennett, nor his passenger 18- year- old Jean-Claude Paquette, of 29 Riverin Road were hurt. However, the vehicle in which these males were found in, was stolen and they were both charged with possession of stolen property. They will both appear in court on July 19th. The vehicle is described as having been demolished.
BUSINESS BREAK-INS ON WEEKEND
City Police also took 4 break and enter reports to businesses over the weekend. On the 12th of June thieves attempted to enter the Swiss Chalet Restaurant on Great Northern Road but were unsuccessful in gaining entry. Also on the same date reports were taken from Standard Auto Glass and Maple Leaf Motors, both on Great Northern Road. Thieves made off with an undisclosed amount of cash from both businesses, and entry had been forced into both places. On the 13th North Crest Bowling Lanes reported a break and enter where entry had also been forced, and once again an undisclosed amount of money had been taken.
