BREACH OF PROBATION
39 year-old James Laplante of 180 Church Street has been charged with breach of probation after he allegedly attended at the Northern Treatment Center while under the influence of alcohol. Laplante attended at 8:00 Saturday morning to serve his intermittent sentence when the staff noted the odor of alcohol. A court date of June 28th has been set.
DOMESTIC DISPUTE
A domestic dispute on Saturday resulted in a 28 year-old male being arrested and charged with 3 counts of assault and 6 counts of breach of probation. The male was charged with one count of assault after he allegedly punched the female victim. At the time the male was on a probation order not to molest, harass or annoy the victim, as well as to keep the peace. The accused is also alleged to have assaulted the same victim on the 18th and 20th of May. The offence is alleged to have happened at their downtown residence. The male will appear in bail court this morning.
IMPAIRED
On Saturday evening at approximately 8:20 pm, Jacqueline Black, age 35, of 184 East Balfour Street was arrested for impaired driving. The accused is alleged to have been driving in the area of Second Line West where patrol officers stopped the vehicle and found the accused to be intoxicated. The accused was transported to the police station and was subsequently charged with over 80 mg. She will appear in court on July 5th.
YOUNG OFFENDER
On Sunday City Police charged a young offender with 2 counts of breach of probation. The young person was on a curfew and failed to abide by the curfew hours. The young person failed to be in her residence by the set time on the probation order. She will appear in court July 6th.
BETTER LATE THAN NEVER
On Sunday 39 year old Darrin Phillips was arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant for failing to attend court on the 21st of April. Phillips had been charged with assault, breach of undertaking and theft under on November 5th, 2003. He will appear in bail court today.
B&E
Elizabeth Barnett, age 41 of 167 Pim Street and 18-year-old Matt Kudyba of 15 Robin Street, as well as a young person, were charged with break and enter on Sunday. The three accused are alleged to have forced their way into a residence on Moody Street. It is believed that the only item taken from the residence was a dog. Ms Barnett will appear in court on August 9th and Mr. Kudyba appears in court on July 5th.
ASSAULT CHARGE
Early this morning a Joseph Thompson, age 30 of 8 Mayfair Avenue, was charged with 3 counts of assault. It is alleged that while at the River Rock bar, the accused assaulted 3 males in the bathroom by punching two of them and pushing the third victim. No injuries were reported. Thompson will appear on court on July 5th.
YOUNG OFFENDERS
2 young persons were arrested early this morning and charged with one count each of theft under $5,000. One of the young persons also faces additional charges of 2 counts of breaching their recognizance by not keeping the peace and being good and not abiding by a curfew. The alleged theft occurred at a downtown Mac’s Mart Store where the pair worked together on distracting the clerk and stealing cigarettes. Both young persons will appear in bail court today.
DOMESTIC RELATED CHARGES
A 42-year-old male will appear in bail court tomorrow morning on domestic related charges. The male has been charged with one count of assault and one count of threatening the victim. It is alleged that the male pushed the female victim and raised a fist at her. He also threatened to kill her with a shotgun. The incident took place early this morning.
LOOKING FOR WITNESS
The traffic section of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service are seeking the assistance of the public who may have witnessed an accident at the intersection of Second Line West and Goulais Avenue on Sunday May 30th at approximately 8:00 pm. One of the involved vehicles was southbound on Goulais Avenue while the second vehicle was eastbound on Second Line. The vehicles collided in the intersection and both received light damage with no injuries being reported.
