94 TRAFFIC CHARGES LAID LAST WEEK
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service for the week ending November 14th laid 94 charges under the Highway Traffic Act at various locations through out the city.
LUNCH MONEY EXTORTION
Yesterday in the early afternoon, the accused, a 13-year-old youth, punched the victim, another young person, in the ribs while walking on a downtown street.
The accused told the victim to turn over their allowance money or get beat up. At 6:08 pm patrol officers arrested and charged the accused with Assault, Threatening, Breach of Recognizance and Failing to Comply with a Disposition. The youth will appear in bail court today.
YOUTH THREATENS PARENT ON INTERNET
On the 26th of October in the early evening a 13-year-old young person made several threats towards the youth’s stepparent while on an Internet chat line.
Yesterday at 4:20 pm the youth was brought to the Police Services Building where he agreed to enter a Youth Diversion Program under the Youth Criminal Justice Act in lieu of formal charges.
THREE ASSAULT CASES
Yesterday at 7:00 am the accused, a 20-year-old male, committed the offence of assault. The accused committed the offence by throwing the victim, an adult female, to the ground and kicking her. The assault took place at the couple’s apartment in Sault Ste. Marie and was the result of a domestic dispute. The victim received minor injures in the incident. Patrol Officers arrested and charged the accused with Assault and Breaching of Probation. He will appear in bail court today.
Yesterday at 4:30 am, a 33-year-old male was awakened by his common-law girlfriend at their apartment in Sault Ste. Marie. A domestic argument ensued resulting in the accused male punching the victim in the face. The victim received minor injures in the assault. At 4:37 am the accused was arrested and charged with Threatening and Assault. He will appear in court today.
In another domestic dispute yesterday, at 2:20 am, the accused, a 34-year-old male, assaulted his common-law wife by punching her in the face while at their Sault Ste. Marie residence. The victim was transported to hospital and treated for minor injures. The male accused was arrested at approximately 2:30 am and charged with Assault Causing Bodily Harm. He will appear in court today.
BREAK & ENTER
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service investigated one break in the past 24 hours. At 1:00 am this morning patrol officers were called to Bay View School on Pittsburgh Avenue for a break-in.
