Male Arrested A 55-year old male will be appearing in bail court this morning after being arrested on the 27th of November at 2 am. City Police were called to an east end residence for a domestic dispute.
A 55-year old male will be appearing in bail court this morning after being arrested on the 27th of November at 2 am. City Police were called to an east end residence for a domestic dispute. When officers entered the residence they found the wife and child hiding in the bathroom. The male was passed out. A query of the accused revealed he was on release conditions not to molest, harass or annoy his wife and not to consume alcohol. The accused has been charged with 2 counts of breaching a release document.
Youth Charged With Unlawfully At Large
A 16-year old young person will appear in bail court this morning after being arrested on the 27th of November. The youth left the youth detention centre on Pilgrim Street on the19th of November while serving a sentence and was located in a city residence on the 27th. The youth has been charged with one count of unlawfully at large.
Male Charged With Assault
23-year old Robert Morrison of 25 Grace Street was arrested on the 27th of November around 4 am after he got into an altercation with another male. It is alleged that the accused punched the male victim in the head a number of time and then pushed the victim up against a wall as the male was attempting to leave the downtown residence where the assault occurred. Police were called and the accused was arrested. The accused struggled with the officers while they were attempting to handcuff him. Mr. Morrison has been charged with one count of assault, one count of resist arrest and one count of breach of probation as he was on probation with terms to keep the peace and be good. He will appear in court on January 10, 2005.
Impaired Male Collides with Train
City Police arrested 76-year old William Huckson of 124 Brien Avenue on the 26th of November after he was involved in a motor vehicle collision with a train. Around 11:30 pm Mr. Huckson drove north across the tracks at Pine Street and was struck by an eastbound Huron Central Train. The lights had been flashing indicating the train’s presence. The train struck Huckson’s pickup truck and caused it to spin and then came to a stop just off the roadway north of the tracks. The damage to the truck was described as severe. Mr. Huckson was not injured, but he did show signs of impairment to the investigating officers. Mr. Huckson was given the breath demand and he refused to provide a sample. He was been charged with one count of fail to provide a breath sample and will appear in court on January 10, 2005.
Ride Program Conducted
On the 26th of November from 10 pm to 3 am the Sault Ste Marie Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police conducted a joint R.I.D.E. program. During that time frame 500 vehicles were checked, 12 roadside tests were conducted, 4-12 hour suspensions were issued, and 2 persons were arrested for impaired driving related offences. Both police agencies will continue to conduct the R.I.D.E. program throughout the rest of the Festive Season.
Reported Break and Enters
City Police received 2 report of break and enters over the weekend. On the 26th of November in the afternoon City Police took a report of a break and enter to a vacant home in the 1000 block of Black Road. The home was entered and damage was done to the kitchen cupboard area. Some outer sheds were entered but nothing was taken. On the 27th of November in the morning City Police attended at the Highway Variety Store on Trunk Road and took a report of an attempt break and enter. Entry was not gained but there was some damage done to the screen door.
Robbery Reported
On the 27th of November at 6:50 pm City Police responded to the Highway Variety Store on Trunk Road in regards to a robbery. At approximately 6:45 pm a lone male entered the store and demanded money from the clerk on duty. The robber was carrying a knife at the time when the demand was made. The clerk handed over a small-undisclosed amount of cash and the robber fled the store on foot in an unknown direction. The male suspect is described as being 16-17 years old, 5’6” tall, native, brown eyes and was about 150 pounds. At the time of the offence the suspect was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt with no writing. No further description is available.
