A fatal accident last night claimed the life of 36-year-old Frank Caruso.

At 6:54 p.m., Caruso was southbound on North Street.

At the same time, a vehicle, driven by 18-year-old Andrew Spironello, was turning left from Bloor Street onto North.

The motorcycle swerved to avoid a collision with the Spironello vehicle, lost control and skidded into a hydro pole on the west side of North Street, south of Bloor.

Mr. Caruso was pronounced dead at the Sault Area Hospital.

Spironello was not injured.

The police investigation continues with an appeal from officers for any witnesses to contact police.
