ACCIDENT, CATHCART & HURON On Friday, October 24th at 7:30 am Police were called to investigate a motor vehicle collision involving two trucks at the intersection of Cathcart Street and Huron Street.

On Friday, October 24th at 7:30 am Police were called to investigate a motor vehicle collision involving two trucks at the intersection of Cathcart Street and Huron Street.

Any witnesses to this collision are asked to contact the Sault Ste. Marie Police Traffic Services Section at 949-6300, extension 348.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service laid 137 charges last week under the Highway Traffic Act. These charges were for a variety of offences in various locations in the city.

ASSAULT CHARGES LAID
On Saturday, police officers at the City Police Station overheard a loud argument in the parking lot outside of the Police Services Building.

Officers learned that one of the males, a 26 year old, had a domestic dispute earlier in the evening with his common-law girlfriend, the victim, and that the other male was a relative of hers. Officers learned that the 26-year-old accused had assaulted the victim by kneeing her in the stomach.

The female received minor injures and was taken to hospital for treatment. Patrol officers arrested and charged this accused with Assault. He will appear in court on December 1st.

Further to this event, around midnight, Saturday, another relative to the victim, a 59 year old male forced open the door of a residence where he believed the accused might be and assaulted a third party there and threatened the occupants of the residence with a wooden stick.

Patrol officers arrested and charged this accused with Break and Enter, Assault, Assault with a Weapon and Threatening. He will appear in court on December 1st.

ASSAULT CHARGES
In the middle of August 2003, the accused David John Gingras, age 29 of 146 Spadina Ave. was involved in an assault with another adult known to him. Police officers were unable to locate the accused at this time and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

This past Sunday morning shortly after 2:00 am, the accused was causing a disturbance at the Checkered Flag Saloon by arguing and fighting with staff there.

The accused punched a large glass window, causing it to break, before leaving the area on foot. Patrol officers located the accused a short distance from the bar and arrested him for Assault, Mischief and Causing a Disturbance.

He was taken to hospital for treatment of an injury he received when he broke the window. He will appear in court December 1st.

YOUTH BREAKS PROBATION
On 10th of October a 16-year-old young person left the group home where the youth was residing, and did not return. The youth was on a probation order to be in their place of residence with a curfew of 10:30pm to 7am daily.

On Sunday, October 26th at 11:10 pm patrol officers arrested and charged the youth Breaching of Probation. The young offender will appear in court in early December.

UNLAWFULLY AT LARGE
The accused, Richard Aelick, age 34 of 732 3rd Line East was serving an intermittent custodial sentence at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre. He was released on the 20th of October at 6:00 am as per the sentence and was to return on the 24th of October at 10:00 pm. He failed to return at this time.

Attempts were made to locate him with negative results. At 12:20 am this morning, patrol officers located him at a downtown bar and arrested and charged him with being Unlawfully at Large and Breach of Probation. He will appear in bail court today.

TWO COUNTS OF ASSAULT
This past Friday, the accused, a 42-year-old male pushed his ex-girlfriend, to the ground following an argument at the victim’s home. On Saturday, at about 12:15 am, the accused was again in an argument with the victim.

After a brief struggle, the accused punched the victim once in the forehead, then left the residence. The victim had minor injures in the assault. Police arrived at 12:50 am but were unsuccessful in locating the accused.

On Sunday, at 9:20 pm the accused attended at the Police Station and was arrested and charged with two counts of Assault. He will appear in court December 8th.

OUTSTANDING WARRANTS SERVED
On Sunday, at 1:15 pm the accused, a 19 year old male was located by police officers on Pim Street. A police records check revealed the accused was wanted on outstanding warrants held by the Sault Ste Marie Police Service for Possession of a Controlled Drug and Breach of Probation under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. Officers executed these arrest warrants and the accused will appear in bail court today.

TWO BREAK INS
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service was called upon to investigate two residential break ins yesterday. At 11:00 am a residence in the 1300 block of Wellington Street East was broken into and shortly after 8:00 pm a homeowner on Woodward Ave. advised police their home had been entered.
