Sault Police investigate arson on Chapple Avenue

One person charged following Boxing Day incident

Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is investigating an act of arson in the central part of the city that took place on Boxing Day.  

Police, fire and paramedics attended an apartment building in the 100 block of Chapple Avenue Tuesday. 

Cruisers and a pair of forensics vehicles were spotted at the building the following day. 

Police spokesperson Lincoln Louttit told SooToday that an individual has been charged in relation to the incident and taken into custody under the Mental Health Act.

The investigation is ongoing.
