CHARGED WITH FRAUD From the 1st of January 2002 until the 31st of May 2003, the accused, Lynda Crockford, age 30 of 16 Clergue Street allegedly stole money from Curves, 626 Queen Street East and 688 Second Line East while employed at these businesses
CHARGED WITH FRAUD
From the 1st of January 2002 until the 31st of May 2003, the accused, Lynda Crockford, age 30 of 16 Clergue Street allegedly stole money from Curves, 626 Queen Street East and 688 Second Line East while employed at these businesses.

The total amount taken was several thousand dollars and resulted in a charge of Theft under $5,000.00. From the 21st of September 2002 until the 17th of May 2003 the accused is also believed to have altered the records of these businesses and defrauded them of several thousands of dollars resulting in a Fraud under $5,000.00 charge.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service was contacted and detectives began an investigation into the incident. Yesterday at 12:00 pm, detectives arrested the accused at the police station for these offences. She will appear in court on September 29th.


ARRESTED AT STATION MALL
Yesterday, patrol officers were called to 293 Bay Street to assist security with a male that wouldn't leave the property of the Station Mall. On their arrival, the accused, Isadore Agawa Senior, age 49 of Mission Reserve Goulais River, was still on property and when asked to leave by security and the police officer the accused refused.

Agawa, who had previously assaulted the security guard by pushing him twice, was informed he was under arrest, which he resisted by struggling with the officers.

Agawa has been charged with Assault, Obstruct/Resist Peace Officer and Failing to Leave When Directed under the Trespass to Property Act. He will appear in court on September 29th.


DRUG BUST
Yesterday, police officers from the Joint Forces Drug Unit conducted a Controlled Drug and Substance Act search warrant upon a home on Ascot Avenue.

Police subsequently discovered a metal Halide bulb, a timer, 108 grams of drying marijuana product and an approximately 4' tall cannabis marijuana plant in the rear yard.

Police located the accused, James Bell, age 22 of 13 Ascot Avenue at the residence and at approximately 2:00 pm they arrested and charged him with Production of Marijuana.

Officers also located a City Board of Works stop sign in Bell's possession. This resulted in the additional charge of Possession Of Stolen Property. He will appear in court on September 29th.


DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
At 3:15 this morning, patrol officers were called to an east end residence where a male and female were fighting. Officers learned that the 25-year-old male began arguing with the victim, an adult female.

This domestic disagreement resulted in the front door of their apartment being broken and the victim being thrown across the driveway. The female had her clothes torn but was not seriously injured. At 3:29 am officers arrested and charged the male with Assault. He will appear in court on September 29th.


BREAK & ENTER
The police service investigated one attempted break-in yesterday. At 7:27 am, officers were called to the Root River Golf Course at 85 Old Highway 17 North where thieves had unsuccessfully attempted to gain entry into a building there.
