PEDESTRIAN CHARGED IN ACCIDENT
A pedestrian, 57-year-old Shirley Ashick of Sault Ste. Marie, was hit by a vehicle as she attempted to cross Great Northern Road on December 6th. She was crossing the street in a westerly direction when she was struck by the vehicle, which was heading north in the centre lane.

Following their investigation, police have charged her with failing to yield the right of way. The driver of the vehicle was Colin Hopkin also of Sault Ste. Marie. Ashick was not seriously injured in the accident. She was treated for minor injuries and released from hospital.


QUIET NIGHT IN THE SAULT
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service had relatively quiet 24 hours making three arrests. Two of the three arrests were for persons intoxicated in a public place. The third arrest is as follows:


CHARGED WITH CRIMINAL HARASSMENT
Since approximately April of 2003, the complainant, a high school-age female has been trying to break up with her boyfriend.

The victim had broken up with the male accused two or three times since, but he keeps getting back into her life. Since school started this fall, he has been showing up at the victim’s school and waiting in places where she should be showing up.

In early September, the victim processed a Peace Bond / Restraining Order against the 19-year-old male. The contact appeared to subside for a period of time but recently has increased and alarmed the victim.

Yesterday at 1:22 pm the accused was arrested and charged with Criminal Harassment, Breach of Probation and Breach of Recognizance. He will appear in bail court today.


BREAK & ENTERS
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service investigated one attempted break and enter yesterday. At 11:24 am patrol officers were called to Fashion First Ladies Apparel at 290 Wellington Street West where thieves had tried unsuccessfully to enter the building.

TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS
Officers of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service investigated nine motor vehicle collisions in the past 24 hours. Most were of a minor nature and weather related.
