Male Charged with Fraud
At approx. 11:50 AM yesterday morning the City Police Fraud Unit arrested Todd Petrie and charged him with 4 counts of Fraud, 2 counts of Uttering Forged Documents, 1 count of Forgery and 1 count of Breach of Probation. It is alleged that on Dec. 11th and Dec 19th Mr. Petrie attended at Rome’s Pharmacy and attempted to obtain prescriptions for drugs that were not prescribed to him. It is further alleged that Mr. Petrie forged the signature of a doctor to obtain drugs. It is also alleged that between July 23 2004 and Dec. 1st Todd Petrie returned items, that he did not purchase, to The Canadian Tire Store and received a credit to his account. Todd Petrie, D.O.B.: 06 Dec 1962, of 17 Boston Ave. will be appearing in Bail Court today at 10:00 AM.
Female Charged with Assault with A Weapon
At approx. 8:45 PM yesterday evening City Police were called to an address on Weldon Ave. regarding a female swinging a baseball bat at people. Upon arrival police arrested Cherie Thibault for Assault with a Weapon. It is alleged that the accused, while swinging and pointing the bat at four persons, threatened them with bodily harm. It is unknown what sparked this incident. Cherie Thibault, D.O.B.: 21 Aug 1979, of 100 Weldon Ave, will be appearing in Bail Court today at 10:00 AM.
Stolen Property
At approx. 12:20 AM this morning City Police arrested James Ewart, D.O.B.: 11 Dec 1976, of 47 Lewis Rd. Mr. Ewart was arrested on a charge of Possession of Stolen Property. It is alleged that the accused had possession of property that was stolen from Zellers on Wed. Dec. 23rd. Mr. Ewart will be appearing in Bail Court today at 10:00 AM.
Ride Program
At approx. 9:25 PM yesterday evening the R.I.D.E. Program arrested a male person for Impaired Driving and Drive Over 80 mgs. Keith Jackson was operating his vehicle on Albert St.W. near John St. when the officers stopped him. Upon speaking to the accused it was noticed that his was under the influence of alcohol and was subsequently arrested. Keith Jackson D.O.B. 01July 1957, of 129 Wilcox Ave. will be appearing in court on Jan. 31st at 9:00 AM. He was issued a 90-Day Driving Suspension.
The Sault Ste Marie Police Service R.I.D.E. Program was also responsible for two 24 Hour Suspensions last night.
Break and Enters
There were two break and enters reported yesterday.
The first was to a business known as RM Electrotech located at 295 Wellington St.W. Culprits attempting to enter the business broke some windows but were stopped by the iron bars inside the premises.
The second was to St. Jerome’s Church located at 23 Carmel Rd. In this incident thieves forced open a side door to the parish and stole a quantity of items from inside. It is believed that the incident took place between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM. Anyone with information or having seen any suspicious persons near the church during these hours is asked to contact the City Police.
Motor Vehicle Collisions
The City Police investigated 17 motor vehicle collisions yesterday. Most were minor in nature –but one did result in injuries that did not require medical attention.
