SCHOOL BUS ACCIDENT Yesterday at 8:35 am, the Sault Ste Marie Police Service investigated a motor vehicle collision between a car and a school bus. The accident took place on Northern Avenue just west of Great Northern Road.

Yesterday at 8:35 am, the Sault Ste Marie Police Service investigated a motor vehicle collision between a car and a school bus. The accident took place on Northern Avenue just west of Great Northern Road.

It is alleged that Devon Shearsby, age 17, of Crystal Place was exiting a private driveway when his vehicle struck an eastbound school bus.

The bus then slid sideways and struck a stop sign on the north side of the road. In the accident, a passenger on the bus suffered a minor injury. He was treated at the hospital and released. Mr.Shearsby was charged with Failing to Yield From a Private Driveway.


SNOWMACHINE DRIVER FLEES POLICE
This morning at 12:10, patrol officers observed a snow machine on Rushmere Dr. The driver failed to stop for police and drove into the fields.

A short time later police went to at the registered owner's address and charged him with Failing to Stop for Police. Charged was: Clayton Lapenser, age 38 , of Arden Street. This is a Provincial Offence, not a Criminal Code offence.


THEFTS AND MISCHIEF
The Sault Ste Marie Police Service is also investigating a theft of a car battery from the 300 block of Bainbridge Street, mischief to a window in the 400 block of Wallace Terrace and mischief to a room at 139 East Street.

The Service responded to 89 calls overnight.
