OPERATING A STOLEN VEHICLE A NO-NO
A single motor vehicle accident on Vera Street on the 21st of January at 10:22 am resulted in 31 year-old Kenneth William Boyer being arrested and charged. Mr. Boyer was operating a stolen vehicle when he lost control of the vehicle on Vera Street; the car then struck a snow bank causing moderate damage to the car.

Mr. Boyer will appear in bail court this morning on charges of Theft over $5000 and possession of stolen property. He was also charged with “drive motor vehicle with no license” under the Highway Traffic Act.

SEVERAL ASSAULTS
A 27 year-old man will also appear in bail court this morning after a domestic dispute early this morning. It is alleged that the man punched a female victim in the head and back. Upon being arrested by patrol officers, the accused was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance believed to be cocaine. He is charged with assault, possession of a controlled substance and breach of probation.

A 20 year-old man will appear in court on March 1st facing 3 charges of assault. On 2 different occasions beginning in December of last year the man is accused of slapping the victim during a domestic dispute and on the 3rd date he is alleged to have pushed the victim into some furniture.

THE PUCK STOPS HERE
3 arrests have been made in connection with a break in to the Soo Greyhound equipment room earlier this week. Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Branch of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 3 young persons yesterday.

1 young person faces charges of break and enter and possession of stolen property over $5000 and will appear in court on March 2nd. The other 2 young offenders have been charged with possession of stolen property and they will appear in court on February 24th. A large quantity of hockey sticks and a hockey stick bag have been recovered thus far.

BOTH VEHICLES DEMOLISHED
A 2-vehicle collision at Second Line and Great Northern Road yesterday at 5:55 pm resulted in both drivers being charged and 2 persons going to the hospital with minor injuries. Kevin Harriman, 25 years-old of 1150 Peoples Road was driving his car east on Second Line while Betty Cristello age 61 of 624 Placid Avenue was heading west on Second Line waiting to make a left turn onto Great Northern Road.

The collision occurred when both vehicles continued through the intersection against a yellow light. Mr. Harriman is charged with Amber light-fail to stop while Mrs. Cristello is charged with left turn not in safety. Both charges fall under the provincial Highway Traffic Act. Mrs. Cristello and her passenger, 67 year-old Cheryl Leigh, both received minor injuries. Both vehicles were demolished in the accident
