DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CHARGES
A 20-year-old male will appear in bail court this morning after being arrested and charged with a number of domestic related offences that allegedly occurred between the 6th and the 13th of October.
It is alleged that the male assaulted his girlfriend on 4 separate occasions during that time period.
The assaults including grabbing her by the throat, striking her in the face and leaving a mark below her eye, pushing her up against a wall and also grabbing her by the wrists and throwing her to the bed. During one of the assaults, the male pulled out a knife and threatened to harm the victim.
During the time of these offences, the accused was on a probation order with terms to keep the peace. He has been charged with 4 counts of assault, one count of threatening and one count of breach of probation.
ATTEMPTED TO PAWN HOT CAMERA
Yesterday afternoon 3 persons went to the Second Hand World Pawn Shop on Tancred Street and tried to pawn a video camera. The camera had been reported stolen from a break and enter on the 11th of October from a Fifth Avenue residence. Police were called and the persons were taken into custody.
A 15-year-old youth has been charged with one count of possession of stolen property and will appear in court on the 16th of November.
19-year-old Jana Sinclair of 205-40 Hynes Street has been charged with one count of possession of stolen property and she will appear in court on the 15th of November.
A 17-year-old youth, who was also on a release document with conditions to reside with specific persons mentioned on the document, has also been charged with one count of possession of stolen property and one count of breach of a release document. This youth will appear in bail court this morning.
STOLEN VEHICLE
28-year old Kevin James Perrault of 14 Whiskey Jack Road in Garden River was arrested yesterday afternoon in relation to a stolen vehicle.
It is alleged that on the 12 of October the accused stole a 1989 GMC Sierra pick-up truck from a downtown residence where it had been parked with the keys left in the ignition. Witnesses observed Mr. Perrault drive away and a query by the officers revealed that the accused was a prohibited driver.
It was also learned that a generator had been in the back of the pickup, but the make and model is unknown.
On the 13th of October, city police located the accused in the downtown area, along with the stolen vehicle. The generator was no longer in the truck.
The accused has been charged with 2 counts of theft under $5,000, one count of operating motor vehicle while disqualified, and one count of breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. Perrault will appear in court on November 16th.
ACCIDENT WITH INJURY
Yesterday evening around 7:00 city police were called to the 900 block of Great Northern Road for a motor vehicle collision with injuries.
A car being operated by Michele Beltrano of 751 Cooper Street was travelling northbound on Great Northern Road and went to turn right into a driveway in the 900 block.
A pick-up truck being operated by John Grandinetti of 37 Broadview was stopped in the driveway that the Beltrano car was turning into.
A car being operated by Ursula Hernden of 1719 Highway 552 East was travelling northbound on Great Northern Road behind the Beltrano vehicle.
When the Beltrano vehicle slowed and started to turn into driveway, her vehicle was struck from behind by the Hernden vehicle, which caused the Beltrano vehicle to spin into the Grandinetti vehicle.
Neither Mrs. Hernden nor Mr. Grandinetti required medical treatment, but Mrs. Beltrano was taken to the hospital by ambulance for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Mrs. Hernden has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with one count of careless driving. Damage to the Grandinetti vehicle is described as light and the other 2 vehicles received severe damage.
