Police Officers were kept busy last evening and early this morning arresting three adults for being Intoxicated in a Public Place.

HARASSMENT/ASSAULT CHARGE
In other arrests from yesterday, during the month of October the accused a 26-year-old male from Sault Ste. Marie repeatedly phoned and attended at his ex-girlfriend’s home, causing the victim to become fearful for her safety. As well on the 21st of October the accused assaulted the victim by grabbing her by the arm. The victim received minor injures. On the 22nd of October at 7:36 pm the accused attended the city police station where he was arrested and charged with Criminal Harassment and Assault. He will appear in bail court today.

BURIES THE HATCHET
On October 23, 2003 at 1:29 am patrol officers attended at the Blue Boy Restaurant at 192 Wellington Street West for a fight in progress. Officers were advised that a male was in possession of a hatchet. Officers arrested and charged one male, Dwayne Marttinen, age 42 of 128 Upton Road with Assault with a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public, Resist Arrest and Possession of a Controlled Drug. The officer’s investigation revealed that the accused was thrown out of the restaurant and when he attempted to re-enter, the accused pulled out the hatchet and swung it at the staff from the restaurant. When police officers attempted to arrest the accused he refused to obey their verbal commands and struggled with the officers. The accused was taken into custody and no serious injures were incurred during the incident. Police located six pills, suspected to be morphine, on the accused. He will appear in court on December 1st.

CHURCH ST. MISCHIEF
At 2:00 am this morning patrol officers arrested and charged Tyler McNally, age 19 of 112 White Oak Drive and Aaron Ritza, age 19 of 138 Promenade Drive with Mischief and Causing a Disturbance by Being Drunk. Residents on Church Street advising them that licence plates were being ripped off vehicles and election signs were being ripped out of the ground and thrown into the street called police. At 2:05 am patrol officers in the area of Church Street and Ontario Ave., arrested and charged the co-accused with these offences. Damage to the two vehicles involved is estimated at $100.00. Damage to over 26 election signs is estimated at over $200.00. The accused will appear in court on December 1st.

BREAK IN
The Sault Ste. Marie Police investigated one break in yesterday. At 6:46 pm a resident of Boehmer Blvd. advised police that someone had entered their residence overnight and removed a quantity of jewellery.
