CASE OF THE MISSING BICYCLE SEAT

On Monday, 22nd of September 2003, a young person removed a bicycle seat and stem from a bicycle that did not belong to him. The accused then placed the seat and post on his bicycle.

On the 24th of September 2003 City Police received information regarding the theft and at approximately 12:00 p.m., attended at a residence in the West end of the city. The accused young person was found in possession of that property and subsequently arrested and charged for theft under $5000 and possession of stolen property.

The accused was released on a Youth Criminal Justice Act Diversion Program where he will replace the damaged seat post and will participate in a Youth Referral Program at the John Howard Society.

OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE

On or about the 22nd of Sept. 2003 at approximately 12:15 p.m., a young person did attempt to obstruct justice by threatening to cause bodily harm to another young person if she did not drop charges against a third young person.

Further, the accused in committing this offence, did breach the terms of a probation order and a recognizance order to keep the peace.

On Thursday, 24th of Sept. 2003 at approximately 12:15 p.m., the young person was arrested and charged for these offences and is to appear in bail court today.
