FATAL ACCIDENT AT ALGOMA STEEL

Algoma Steel announced yesterday evening that an 18-year veteran of the plant, Bob Brzezinski, was killed in an industrial accident late yesterday afternoon.

Police report receiving the call at 5:20p.m. Emergency medical Services Personnel who responded found Brzezinski, age 42, had suffered fatal injuries. Detectives and forensic identification officers are assisting the coroner. Details of the accident will likely be released later this morning said City Police Sergeant, Steve Train.

THIEF SEARCHES OFFICES

Tuesday of last week, at approximately 3:20 p.m., an unknown male entered the school of Sir James Dunn in Sault Ste. Marie and entered a second floor office. Once in the office he removed cash from an employee’s wallet. The male was caught by the employee and with the assistance of fellow employees, had a brief struggle with the male and held him. The accused escaped custody and fled the building before police arrived on the scene.

On the 16th of April at approximately 4:45p.m. this same accused person entered several of the offices of Lyons Building Centre on Wellington St. West., Lyons Building Centre,. An employee entering one of the offices observed the male and alerted other staff. He was held until Police arrived. Raymond Gregoire, age 21 of 217 Beverly St. was arrested and charged with robbery, and break and entering. He will attend bail court today.

FRAUD CHARGES

This past Saturday, John Pugh, age 44 of 1547 Trunk Rd, stole a CIBC bank card from an acquaintance and then used that stolen card to make purchases and withdrawals in Sault Ste. Marie totaling $327.50 thereby defrauding the victim of those funds. Several attempts to remove funds from a bank account were unsuccessful. The victim, on a prior occasion, had given Pugh the PIN number to make a purchase. Pugh contacted police yesterday and subsequently turned himself into police
