BYSTANDERS APPREHEND THIEF
The City Police would like to take this opportunity to thank the three citizens that came to the assistance of a lady after her purse was stolen. Near noon yesterday, a lady was about to get into her car at the Station Mall when a youth came up behind her and grabbed her purse. The suspect then ran north through the parking lot and across Bay Street. The victim yelled for help.

As the suspect was running north through an alleyway, three citizens took up the pursuit and apprehended the suspect. He was held for the police and the purse was returned to the victim. The young person was subsequently charged with Theft Under $ 5,000.00 and will be appearing in court on September 14th at 9:30 a.m. A special thank you to those that helped for making the policing easier.


TURNS HIMSELF IN
Yesterday evening at 9:50, Timothy Nichols turned himself in at the City Police Station on a warrant. Mr. Nicholas had been released on a day pass, from the Northern Treatment Centre, on Friday and failed to return Friday Night. Mr. Nichols, age 41, of 196 Second Line West will be going to Bail Court today at 10:00 a.m. Nichols was charged with Breach of Probation and Being Unlawfully at Large.


CHARGED WITH ASSAULT
Yesterday morning City Police arrested a 42-year-old male and charged him with two counts of Assault and one count of Threatening. It is alleged that the accused assaulted his girlfriend on Aug 7th and again on Aug 9. During the second assault the accused also threatened to kill the victim. The accused will be appearing in Bail Court today at 10:00 a.m.


BREAK & ENTERS
City Police are investigating one break and enter and an attempted break and enter from yesterday. The break-in took place to an office complex located at 369 Queen Street East where several offices were ransacked. Entry was gained to this building by forcing a side door.

In the attempted entry two youths were seen running from the rear of 130 Queen Street East after the alarm sounded. The youths had attempted to force a rear door. One of the suspects was seen wearing a red shirt with dark pants and the other had a dark shirt and dark pants. If anyone has any information on this incident they are asked to contact the city police or Crimestoppers.


HOUSE EGGED
City police officers are asking for the public’s assistance in locating approximately five youths responsible for “egging” a house in the 100 block of Amber Street. This incident took place yesterday morning at 9:15. The suspects were last seen walking south on Amber Street toward Parkland. Anyone with information is asked to contact the City Police Detective Office.
