Male Charged with Assault
A 33-year old male will appear in bail court this morning after being arrested shortly before midnight last night. It is alleged that the male assaulted his girlfriend by punching her in the face. The assault occurred in a downtown residence. At the time of the offence the male was on probation. The male has been charged with one count of assault and 2 counts of breach of probation.
Threatening to Cause Death
A 31-year old male will also appear in bail court today after he was arrested last evening for domestic assault that occurred in an east end residence. It is alleged that around 5 pm last evening the male assaulted his common-law spouse by throwing a coffee table at the victim and threatening to hit her with a hammer. The female victim did not require any medical treatment at the time of the offence. The male has been charged with one count of assault with a weapon and one count of threatening to cause death or bodily harm.
Theft Charge
19-year old Roland Periard of 147 Biggings Avenue will also appear in bail court this morning. It is alleged that the accused stole a small quantity of food from the Mac’s Mart on Gore Street shortly before 3 am. Patrol officers who were in the area apprehended the accused almost immediately. The accused has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000.
Impaired Driving
City Police arrested 37-year old Bruce Clouthier of 20 Muriel Drive shortly after 10 pm last night after he was involved in a single motor collision. It is alleged that the accused was traveling eastbound on McNabb Street in the 400 block, when his car hit a snow bank and traveled a short distance before going over the snow bank. The accused did not receive any injuries in the accident and damage to the car was light. However, Mr. Clouthier did show signs of impairment when spoken to by officers. As a result the accused has been charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit. He will appear in court on March 7th.
Arrests Made After Search
Shortly after 12 noon yesterday, City Police officers executed a search warrant at the home of 37-year old Michael McCool of 73 Oakwood Drive. During the search warrant officers located a very small quantity of cocaine and 14 tablets. Officers also located 2 firearms in the residence, one of which was a .22 calibre handgun, both of which were unsafely stored. During the search officers also located a small explosive device. It was also learned that the accused was using a pirated television satellite card. The accused has been charged with one count of unauthorized possession of a weapon, one count of unauthorized possession of a firearm, two counts of careless storage of a firearm, one count of possession of an explosive device, one count of theft of telecommunication, one count of possession of a controlled substance or drug, and one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled substance or drug. The accused will appear in court on March 7th.
