ASSAULTING A POLICE OFFICER
51 year-old Bruce McElwain of 306 Korah Road will appear in court on April 5th after being charged with assaulting a peace officer. Mr. McElwain had been arrested for a provincial offence and after being booked-in at the city police station, it is alleged that he became aggressive toward the officers and bit one of them on the hand while he was being lodged in the cells. No serious injuries were reported.
ASSAULT CHARGES
Derek Agawa, age 40 of 2331 Mission Road Goulais River was arrested and charged yesterday with 2 counts of assault and one count of breach of probation. An incident from the February 26th alleges that Mr. Agawa assaulted a young female by pushing her and slapping her and at the same location he assaulted a young male by pushing him over some furniture. No injuries were reported and Mr. Agawa will appear in court on April 5th.
CABS & DRUGS
Not wanting to pay for a cab resulted in 40 year-old Denis Findaly of 326 Wilson Street being arrested. At approximately 1:40 this morning Findlay took a cab from Pim Street to an address on Peoples Road. Once the cab arrived at that location Mr. Findlay is reported to have refused to pay for the ride.
When police arrived at the scene Mr. Findlay is alleged to have thrown a bag on the ground that contained 7 grams of what is believed to be Psilocybin. Mr. Findlay is charged with transportation fraud and possession of a controlled substance. An April 5th court date has been set.
FAILS BREATH TEST
At 2:30 this morning officers on Queen Street West near the Algoma Steel parking lot checked 38 year-old Kelvin Ramlal of London Ontario. After determining that Mr. Ramlal had been drinking, officers administered a roadside test that the accused failed. He was then arrested and transported to the city police station where he failed breath tests. Mr. Ramlal is charged with Over 80 mg and will appear in court on April 5th.
PICKED UP AGAIN
At 10:40 last night patrol officers arrested 21 year-old Jeffrey Missere of 58 Wellington Street west for outstanding arrest warrants. Mr. Missere was wanted for failing to attend court on November 4th of 2003 and for the original charge of obstructing police. Jeffrey Missere is scheduled to appear in court on April 5th
