POLICE NAME WOMAN CHARGED IN THROAT-STABBING
At 1:10 am this morning patrol officers were dispatched to an apartment complex in the hill top area for a domestic dispute. Officers learned that the accused, a 30-year-old female, had stabbed a male with a knife. The victim suffered a knife wound to his throat area and was transported to hospital by ambulance for treatment of his injures.

At 1:29 am patrol officers arrested and charged the accused with Aggravated Assault. Her court date is scheduled for the 24th of November.

Upon further investigation, detectives learned that, although they were known to each other, the accused and the victim were not married nor domestically involved. As a result, the accused can now be identified. She is 30-year-old Anne Halonen of 751 Pine Street, Apartment #304.

The victim was treated for his injuries and has now been released from hospital.


HIGH SCHOOL ASSAULT
On Monday, the 20th Oct 03 at about 8:30 am at a local High School in Sault Ste Marie the accused a 16-year-old young person was involved in an altercation with the victim, an 18-year-old student. The victim was forced through a window causing the victim to be cut by the glass. An ambulance was called to the scene to treat the victim for minor injures.

On the 20 Oct. 03 at about 8:55 am the accused was arrested and charged by police officers with Assault and Aggravated Assault. The youth will appear in court in late November.

MEAT STOLEN
On the 20 Oct. 03 at approximately 1:30 pm Bonnie Fantham, age 33 of 103 Trelawne Ave. stole a quantity of meat from No Frills at 519 Korah Road. When she was confronted by store security she resisted arrest and had to be restrained awaiting police.
Upon arrest a police records check revealed that the accused was wanted on a number of outstanding warrants for Theft, Assault, Aggravated Assault, Failing to Attend Court and Assault Police. At 1:39 pm she was arrested on the strength of these warrants and also charged with Theft and Resist Arrest. She will appear in bail court today.

DRUG BUST
At 12:20 am this morning patrol officers stopped a motor vehicle on MacKenzie Street near Goulais Ave. A check of the driver, Michael Larocque, age 20 of 456 Fourth Line West revealed 12 individually packaged baggies of suspected marihuana and another baggie with suspect cocaine residue. Patrol officers arrested and charged the accused with Possession of a Controlled Drug and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking in a Controlled Drug. Total value of the drugs seized is estimated at $240.00. The accused will appear in bail court today.


WE’RE HAVING A PARTY
At approximately 1:00 am this morning patrol officers were called to 314 MacDonald Ave. for a loud party complaint. While police were there, the accused Patricia Recollet, age 21 of 53 Vera Street, began yelling and swearing at the police officers and subsequently pulled the fire alarm. Patrol officers arrested and charged her with False Fire Alarm, Causing a Disturbance, three counts of Breach of Undertaking and Being Intoxicated in a Public Place. She will appear in bail court today.

While officers were investigating this incident they checked another person there, Roger Neyland, age 23 of no fixed address, and found he was breaching his curfew. He was arrested and charged with two counts of Breach of Undertaking. A further check revealed that Neyland had several outstanding arrest warrants that were also executed for three counts of Failing to Appear in Court, Breach of Recognizance, Forcible Entry, Assault, Theft, Break and Enter and Mischief. He will appear in bail court on all of these charges today.

FAILS ROADSIDE SCREENING
At 1:25 am this morning patrol officers were called to the Bridge Plaza at 125 Huron Street to assist Officers from Canada Customs. Patrol Officers learned that Halden Shipp, age 54 of 1907 East 9th Ave. Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan had failed a roadside screening test done by Canada Customs Officers. Shipp was turned over to patrol officers and transported to the City Police Station for breath tests. The accused failed to provide a suitable sample of breath for testing and was subsequently charged with this offence. He will appear in court on November 24th.

TWO BREAK INS
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service investigated two break ins yesterday. At 8:57 am yesterday morning patrol officers were called to the Salvation Army Building at 670 John Street for a break in that occurred sometime overnight. And at 2:33 am this morning Patrol Officers were called to the Teen Centre (St. Mary’s Annex) at 376 Cathcart Street for a break in. In both cases damage was done to the buildings but nothing appeared taken.

LAW ENFORCEMENT TORCH RUN
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service would like to advise the public that the Law Enforcement Torch Run in Sault Ste. Marie is working with MJR & Associates, a marketing and consulting firm, and is staging a Benefit NHL Alumni Hockey Game. This is a top quality family event for all ages featuring some of hockey’s greats.

This fun-filled game will take place at the Sault Memorial Gardens on Thursday, April 1, 2004. Part of this promotion will consist of telemarketing in Sault Ste. Marie and surrounding area from now to approximately the middle of February 2004. This event will benefit the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.
