ACCIDENT RESULTS IN IMPAIRED CHARGE
45-year-old Cora McFadden of 376 Second Line West will appear in bail court this morning after being arrested last evening as a result of a motor vehicle collision.
Shortly before 7 pm a car being operated by Christopher Grenier of Devon Road was travelling southbound on Wellington Street West, when a SUV ran the stop sign at Wallace Terrace.
The two vehicles collided and the driver of the SUV, Ms McFadden, climbed out of the vehicle and fled the scene on foot. No injuries were sustained in the accident and the damage to the vehicles is described as severe.
Officers located Ms McFadden a short distance away and placed her under arrest for a number of impaired driving related offences. It was also learned that the accused was on a number of release documents as well as probation orders with terms including keep the peace, abstain from alcohol as well as notify change of address.
McFadden has been charged with one count of impaired driving, one count of consume over the legal limit, one count of fail to remain at the scene of an accident, two counts of operate motor vehicle while disqualified-court order, two counts of breach of a release document and 2 counts of breach of probation.
CHARGED WITH THEFT
Yesterday afternoon city police arrested 21-year-old Christina Beauchamp of 302-135 Cambridge Place and charged her with one count of theft under $5,000. It is alleged that Ms Beauchamp took a camera, a ring and a wallet from the residence of an acquaintance. The property was not recovered. She will appear in court on November 8th.
UNUAUAL DRUG BUST
City police arrested a 15-year-old youth yesterday after a complaint was received of the youth selling the prescription medication Ritalin.
It is alleged the youth removed a number of pills from a family member’s prescription bottle and sold them.
The youth has been charged with one count of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance and will appear in court on November 4th.
IMPAIRED DRIVER
Around 2:30 this morning city police stopped a pick-up truck on Hudson Street and found the driver to be impaired.
Landon Lenius, age 23, of 292 Sussex Street has been charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of consuming over the legal limit. He will appear in court on November 8th.
VEHICLE HITS POLE
Yesterday afternoon, shortly after 2:30, city police, the fire department and the PUC were called to Pim Street by Ontario for a motor vehicle accident in which a PUC pole was struck, causing it to break.
A pick-up truck being operated by 27-year-old Sean Seccareccia of Fairmount Drive was travelling southbound on Pim Street when he attempted to stop behind an unknown car that was going to turn left onto Ontario Avenue.
Mr. Seccareccia’s vehicle started to slide on the road and he took evasive action to avoid hitting the car and ended up striking the PUC pole. At the time of the accident it was raining and the road was wet.
No injuries were sustained by Mr. Seccareccia and his vehicle sustained light damage. Traffic was diverted from the area for almost an hour while PUC staff fixed the pole. No charges have been laid in the accident.
