A Reminder about School Buses
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service would like to remind motorists that they must stop when a school bus has stopped and it’s red signal lights are activated. As well, the drivers are to remain stopped until the school bus moves or its signal lights have stopped flashing. The Traffic Section has received a number of complaints of these infractions. The fine for disobeying the school bus is $405 combined with a victim fine surcharge resulting in a total fine of $500. In addition to the hefty fine you will also lose 6 demerit points on your drivers license. Most importantly the reason for the bus stopping and activating the equipment is so that a child can safely get on and off the bus. Obey the rules and keep a child safe.
