CHARGED WITH POSSESSION
50 year-old Denis Theriault of 137 East Street will appear in bail court this morning after being arrested and charged yesterday with possession of stolen property, 3 counts of breach of an undertaking and 1 count of breach of probation.
Theriault is alleged to have been walking through the mall parking lot wearing a winter jacket that was reported stolen. Further investigation by patrol officers revealed that Theriault was on conditions to remain in the jurisdiction of Sudbury, notify any change of address and abstain from the consumption of alcohol. Mr. Theriault was found in contravention of all 3 conditions.
FORGED CREDIT CARD
Richard Nanchin, age 26 of 227 Poplar Avenue will also appear in bail court this morning after being charged with numerous offences. Nanchin was arrested yesterday afternoon at the Galaxy Cinema in the Station Mall after he allegedly tried to use a fraudulently obtained credit card.
Further investigation into Nanchin’s activities led to 20 counts of attempt fraud, 20 counts of personation, 1 count of possessing a forged credit card, 1 count of forgery and 1 count of possession stolen property.
PARENTAL ABDUCTION
A 40-year-old woman from Alberta will appear in bail court after being arrested at 5:16 this morning. The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service received an arrest warrant from Alberta for 2 counts of parental abduction. The woman was located in an east end residence of Sault Ste. Marie. The 2 children involved who are under the age of 14 years, are now with friends of the family and are doing fine.
UNUSUAL ACCIDENT
The Traffic department of the Police Service is currently investigating a motor vehicle-bicycle collision that occurred at the intersection of Gibb and Murray Streets on Tuesday February 24th. The driver of the motor vehicle called city police and reported the accident, however, traffic officers would like to speak to the youth involved who left the scene after advising the motor vehicle driver that they were fine.
