Male Charged With Break and Enter
18-year old Ryan Harris of 63 Walnut Street will appear in bail court this morning after being apprehended yesterday morning breaking into a residence on Bush St. Around 10:30 am homeowners returned to their home and found a window had been broken. When the checked the inside of their home they found the accused hiding in their residence. When confronted by the homeowners the accused threatened to harm the homeowner and then fled out the window. Police were immediately called and within 5 minutes officers located the accused hiding under a vehicle on St. Georges Avenue. At the time of the arrest the accused had stolen jewellery and money on him that had been taken from the home, in addition to other smaller items. Officers also located a small amount of ammunition on the accused. Mr. Harris was on a release document not to possess any ammunition. Mr. Harris has been charged with one count of break and enter and commit an offence, one count of robbery with theft, one count of possession of property obtained by crime and one count of breach of a release order. Neither of the homeowners was physically harmed in the incident.
Update to news release January 7th
A 15-year old youth was also arrested last night. It is alleged that the youth stole a DVD player and 2 speakers from a west end residence last evening. The youth has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000 and will appear in court on February 8th. Two more youths have been arrested in connection to the above theft. Last evening City Police arrested another 15-year old youth. At the time of the offence the youth was on a release order with a curfew of 8 pm and as a result of this investigation the youth will appear in bail court today charged with one count of breach of a release order and one count of theft under $5,000. A 17-year old youth was also arrested last evening after they were found to have possession of the stolen property. This youth has been charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime and will appear in court on February 15th.
Break and Enter
City Police took a report of a break and enter to St. Matthew’s Church on Wellington Street East. Thieves removed a printer-scanner from the church. If you know who is responsible for this break and enter or know where the stolen property may be, call Crime Stoppers at 942-7867.
Motor Vehicle Collisions
In the last 24-hour period City Police received 10 reports of motor vehicle collisions. None of the accidents resulted in injuries or significant damage.
