BOY CRASHES STOLEN VAN
Yesterday morning at 10:55 am, patrol officers arrested and charged a 12-year-old boy, from the downtown section of the city, with Possession of Stolen Property, Possession of House Breaking Instruments and two counts of Breach of Probation under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Officers were able to determine that sometime between June 11th and June 12th, a van was stolen from the Quality Inn parking lot. The van, a 1994 Plymouth Voyageur, was recovered at approximately 1:18 am on June 12th, after being involved in a collision with a hydro pole at #1 Wallace Terrace. The 12-year-old boy was found with his arm pinned between the van and the pole.

He was taken to hospital by ambulance with minor injuries. Officers found that the youth had two screwdrivers in his possession at the time he was being taken to the hospital. He was also on probation to keep the peace and be good and observe a curfew of 9:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. The youth will appear in court in late July.


MAN SLAPS WOMAN - CHARGED
Yesterday at approximately 11:15 am, the accused a 27-year-old male from the city's west end, was in an argument with his girlfriend. The argument escalated to an assault when the accused struck the 37-year-old female victim in the head with his hand. Patrol officers were advised of this disturbance and went to the couple's residence and arrested and charged the accused with assault. He will appear in bail court today.


MAKES THREATS IN COURT HOUSE
Yesterday at approximately 10:00 am, on the third floor of the Sault Ste Marie Court House, the accused, a 38-year-old male from Allen's Side Road, pointed his finger at a 61-year-old male and advised him twice that he was dead. The victim had just exited court proceedings that involved a relative of the accused.

His lawyer escorted the victim to his vehicle and the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service began an investigation into the threat. At 1:20 pm, the accused went to the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Building and turned himself in. He has been charged with Threatening Death and will appear in court on July 21st.


MAN ATTACKS BUSINESS
At approximately 11:55 am yesterday, the accused, Hans Fuerer, age 46 of 137 East Street # 402 allegedly committed the offence of mischief by kicking a bicycle at a business in the 300 block of Queen Street East. He damaged the tires of the bicycle as a result of kicking it.

The accused went one step further by throwing a rock through a window of the rear door of the same business at approximately 1:10 p.m. At 1:30 pm patrol officers arrested and charged him with two counts of Mischief under $5,000.00. He will appear in court July 21st.


THREATENED AT THE STATION MALL
On Saturday the 7th of June, at 1:30 pm, the victim, a 44-year-old male, was at the Station Mall in the food court area when he was approached by two males who were known to him.

The victim was challenged to a fight and then threatened with bodily harm by both males. The victim declined the fight and, fearing for his safety, approached mall security who escorted him to his vehicle.

Police were notified of the incident and yesterday, at approximately 4:50 pm, both males surrendered themselves to detectives at the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Building. Detectives arrested and charged Paul Edwards, age 22 of 908 Wellington Street East and Wilfred Clement, age 52 of 184 George Street North with Threatening Bodily Harm. Edwards was also charged with Breach of Probation. They will appear in court on July 21st.


BOY ASSAULTS BOY
Yesterday at 8:00 pm, a 13-year-old assaulted a 15-year-old male by pushing the victim forcefully in the back, causing him to fall heavily to the ground. The victim received minor injuries in the assault. Both youths were at a group home at the time of the assault.

At 8:25 pm patrol officers arrested and charged the 13-year-old with Assault and Breach of Probation. He will appear in court in mid July.


BREACH OF PROBATION
Last Monday, the accused a 14-year-old male did not return to his residence off Boundary Road and was out past his curfew of 9:30 p.m. without permission. The City Police Service was notified he was breaching the conditions of his probation order.

Yesterday at 8:45 pm, patrol officers located the accused on Second Line near Old Garden River Road. He was arrested and charged with Breach Of Probation. He will appear in court in mid July.


BREAK & ENTERS
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service investigated two break-ins yesterday. At shortly after 1:00 pm a homeowner on John Street advised police that thieves had entered his shed. At 2:15 pm, a resident of Walters Street advised that their garage had been broken into.
