TURNS SELF IN
A 21 year-old female turned herself in to city police yesterday afternoon. Chantelle Bonefant of 625 Korah Road failed to appear in court on February 23, 2003 at which time a bench warrant was issued. Ms. Bonefant is now scheduled to appear in court on April 5th.
DOMESTIC DISPUTE
A domestic dispute in the city’s downtown area resulted in an 18 year-old male being charged with assault. It is alleged that the man became involved in an argument with the victim and then a physical altercation took place. The man is reported to have thrown the victim against a wall causing the victim’s head to strike the wall. A court date of April 26th has been set.
OUTSTANDING WARRANT SERVED
39 year-old Stanley Woodcox of 132 Pittsburgh Street was arrested yesterday after officers learned there was an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The warrant accused Woodcox of not notifying a change of address between August 2002 and October 2002, thus breaching a condition of his probation. When arrested yesterday Woodcox was found to have what is believed to be 2 5gram vials of cannabis resin. Mr. Woodcox will appear in court on April 5th on the charges of breach of probation and possession of a controlled substance.
BREACH OF RECOGNIZANCE
A 45 year-old man was arrested early this morning and will appear in bail court after being charged with 3 counts of breach of his recognizance. As a result of a domestic dispute earlier this year the accused was on conditions to stay away from the victim and the victim’s residence and he is not to consume alcohol. After a 9-1-1 call officers attended at the victim’s residence and located the man who had been drinking.
FRAUD CHARGES
Todd Allan Petrie, age 41 of 186 Albert Street West will appear in bail court this morning after an additional 13 fraud charges and 3 attempt fraud charges were laid against him. It is alleged that between Dec.3, 2003 and Feb 23, 2004 attended at several local businesses and made, or attempted to make purchases from a chequing account that was closed. He had also re-attended some of the stores and would return the purchases and receive cash in the exchange. Some of the victims included hotels, clothing stores and hardware stores.
