HIGH SCHOOL DRUGS On Tuesday, the 14th of October 2003 police officers were assisting the staff from a local High School search for controlled drugs or substances.
HIGH SCHOOL DRUGS
On Tuesday, the 14th of October 2003 police officers were assisting the staff from a local High School search for controlled drugs or substances. The officers search revealed that a locker belonging to a 16-year-old youth had approximately 0.7 grams of marijuana in it. The substance was located in a piece of clothing in the locker. Police officers arrested and charged the youth with Possession of Marijuana. The youth will appear in court in mid November.

In a related arrest on the 14th of October 2003 at 2:45 pm police officers were assisting the staff of the same High School with a search for controlled substances. A police canine searched a classroom and indicated that one of the students had suspected drugs on their person. As a result the 16-year-old youth was searched and a total of 4.2 grams of marijuana was located in individually packaged half-gram quantities on the young person. The young person was arrested for Possession of Marijuana for the Purpose of Trafficking. The youth will appear in court in mid November.

STORE THEFT
On the 14th of October 2003 at approximately 2:00 pm the accused, a 17-year-old young person, stole several items from the Zellers Store in Station Mall. The youth was caught by store security and held for police. A police records check revealed the youth was on probation and was also on release conditions of a recognizance. Patrol officers arrested and charged the accused with Breach of Probation, Breach of Recognizance and Theft under $5,000.00. The accused will appear in bail court today.

UPDATE
From October 14th Release: On the 28th of September 2003 Jason Artuso, age 31 of 784 Goulais Ave. assaulted a 42 year old male known to him by hitting him in the face several times, pushing him to the ground and kicking him. The assault occurred in a bar in the city’s west end. The victim’s eye was injured in the assault. On October 13th at 6:58 pm Patrol Officers arrested and charged the accused with Aggravated Assault. He will appear in court on November 17th. At 8:17 pm last evening a co-accused Daniel Beek, age 30 of 212 Hudson Street was arrested and charged by patrol officers with Aggravated Assault in connection with this incident. He will appear in court on November 17th.

BREACH OF PROBATION
On the 14th of October at approximately 9:45 pm Police Officers were at a residence on Old Hwy 17 North for a dispute. Ilario Filice, age 29 of 129 Spruce Street was checked on the police records system and found to have an outstanding arrest warrant for Breach of Probation. Patrol officers arrested and charged him with this offence. He will appear in court on November 17th.

MOTORCYCLE THEFTS
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service investigated two motorcycle thefts yesterday. On the 14th of October 2003 police received a call in regards to a stolen motorcycle. The complainant advised police that he parked the motorcycle in a driveway off of Champlain Ave. at approximately 1:00 am on the morning of the 14th of October. The complaint awoke at approximately 7:00 am and observed that the motorcycle was no longer in the driveway. The motorcycle is a black Honda Shadow, 600 cc.

In a similar incident, on the 14th of October 2003 at approximately 8:20 am police received a complaint from another person advising that there purple 1997 Harley Davidson Sportster 883 was stolen. The motorcycle was parked at a residence on Summit Ave. overnight from 10:00 pm to 7:30 am.

ONE BREAK IN
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service investigated one break in yesterday. A home owner in the 500 block of Parliament Street advised police that they went out from 11:30 am until 3:00 pm and when they returned home they found thieves had entered the residence and stolen a video game system and some games.
